Location: Sleights Near Whitby

Whitby 4 miles.

Sleights is ideal for both a coastal and country holiday. Just 4 miles from the picturesque Yorkshire coastline, it is also on the edge of dramatic moors country, littered with attractive villages and scenery. Though quiet, Sleights boasts two pubs, a fish and chip shop, an antique shop (with cafe), a butcher's, bakery and a post office. The North Yorkshire Steam Railway terminus is a few minutes’ drive, together with regular public transport to and from the nearby port of Whitby. Whitby lies at the mouth of the River Esk and is ideally situated for exploring this beautiful part of Yorkshire. It is an atmospheric town of winding streets and hidden alleys, with a picturesque harbour, safe sandy beaches and, of course, the abbey, reached by the famous 199 steps.

Previous visitors' comments about Bracken Edge:

This was our second visit to Bracken Edge and once again, it was a pleasure to return to a comfortable and cosy accommodation after a day out and about. Would definitely recommend this property. Worth it for the view alone.
Mrs Smith, Derby, April 2012

Lovely location, great views. Very friendly and accommodating owner and fantastic cosy cottage.
Mrs Stewart, Rotherham, December 2011

Excellent views from the property and garden. Good level of privacy and situated within easy reach of walks and places of interest.
Mr Holt, Southport, October 2011

Accessible to the village but quiet being just outside the village. The view was magnificent and being greeted by the owner on arrival and given explanations of the refuse collection was useful. There was only 2 of us in a cottage for 6 so we had plenty of room.
