Whitby 4 miles.
Sleights is ideal for both a coastal and country holiday. Just 4 miles from the picturesque Yorkshire coastline, it is also on the edge of dramatic moors country, littered with attractive villages and scenery. Though quiet, Sleights boasts two pubs, a fish and chip shop, antique shop (with cafe), butchers, bakery and post office. The North Yorkshire Steam Railway terminus is a few minutes’ drive, and there is regular public transport to and from the nearby port of Whitby. Whitby lies at the mouth of the River Esk and is ideally situated for exploring this beautiful part of Yorkshire. It is an atmospheric town of winding streets and hidden alleys, with a picturesque harbour, safe sandy beaches and, of course, the Abbey, reached by the famous 199 steps.

Previous visitors' comments about The Piggery:
The location of the house, the comfortable surroundings, the views from the cottage and the ease in which we made ourselves at home. Thoughtful gestures like tea, coffee, wine, and providing washing up liquid etc. all these little things make a big difference. We had a lovely holiday with our grown up family and hopefully we will return.
Mrs Cooper, Hyde, October 2011
The situation of the cottage could not be beaten, the views were tremendous from the balcony and the steam trains passing were an added bonus. We would certainly have no hesitation in returning to The Piggery or recommending it.
Mrs Clements, Stonehouse, October 2011
Superb views from kitchen balcony. The layout, decor and furnishings of the cottage are superb. Well worth a visit - we will certainly be going back!
Mr Roberts, Batley, August 2011
The Piggery is an extremely comfortable house. The accommodation is of a very high standard. We enjoyed the beautiful views from the balcony and looked forward to the regular passage of the steam train. It is a great centre for a holiday and we particularly enjoyed the fish and chips from Eskdale Fisheries!
