The village of Danby nestles in the beautiful and peaceful Esk Valley in the heart of The North York Moors. The village has two pubs (both serving food), a bakery and tearooms. There is also an excellent National Park Visitor Centre at Danby Lodge – an historic building set in 13 acres of riverside pasture, with facilities which include exhibitions, nature trails and tearooms. Danby also boasts the ruins of a 14th century castle and the only remaining working water mill on the River Esk. The scenic Esk Valley Railway line runs through the village on its way to Whitby. The quaint moorland villages of Hutton-le-Hole and Lastingham, the market town of Pickering, the City of York and the Yorkshire Coast villages of Staithes, Saltburn and Robin Hood’s Bay are all within easy touring distance.

Surrounded by open countryside and only three miles from the coast, this tastefully furnished property is warm and welcoming, providing comfortable accommodation and making the perfect place to relax and unwind. A particular feature is the light and spacious open plan living area, with large verandah overlooking the well-established lawned garden - ideal for all the family! Close to beaches and excellent walking, Thornlea Log Cabin is perfect for exploring quaint fishing villages such as Staithes and Runswick Bay or visiting the historic famous town of Whitby. Altogether a great base for a varied and relaxing holiday!

The accommodation is purpose built for holidays and all the furnishings have been bought new for it. Much thought has been given to making it pleasing and very comfortable. The proprietors are lovely people and do everything they can to make the holiday a lovely one.
