The pretty village of Grosmont sits at the junction of the River Esk and Murk Esk in the midst of striking Moors scenery. The area is characterised by its narrow roads, steep hills and scenic views over valleys of patchwork fields and wide open expanses of moorland. Grosmont itself lies in the centre of Heartbeat Country and is famous for being the home of the North York Moors Steam Railway. The Railway has been preserved and run by enthusiasts since 1973 and today carries upwards of 300,000 passengers a year. The village has a general store, post office, book shop, cafés and a pub. It makes a great base for exploring the many pretty farming villages along the Esk Valley and the wider North York Moors National Park, as well as the small fishing villages along the North Yorkshire Coastline.

Previous visitors' comments about Wychwood:
This was our third stay at Wychwood. It is our favorite cottage and I knew I would easily be able to prepare a full Christmas dinner as it has the most well equipped kitchen in any property we have stayed in. The standard of cleanliness is excellent. All in all a fantastic place.
Mrs Morrison, Durham, December 2011
The standard of accommodation was very good and the location was perfect.
Mrs Ford, Lydney, September 2011
This was a return visit with family, who all agreed that the property was excellent and in a good place to explore the area. Plenty of walks of all grades to suit the children and lots of local attractions to keep them happy. Even the weather was kind to us!
Mrs Tucker, Horley, August 2011
The location was idyllic and we loved hearing and seeing the steam trains all the time. A really good location from which to base a holiday with easy access to lots of seaside locations and attractions. We didn't need for anything.
