  • "The pictures of the Granary are exactly what you find when you first arrive at the property."

Everything was provided for a wonderful holiday and the milk, tea bags and cake were a great thing to find waiting for us after a long journey. The owner was most helpful with directions and helping us find the right place to park the car! Set in very peaceful surroundings and with an easy journey to the Park and Ride we would have no hesitation in recommending the Granary to other holiday makers. If we were to stay in the York area again we would certainly return to the Granary.

  • "Absolutely wonderful property!"

It had everything we needed, was immaculate throughout and a really comfortable stay. There was a highchair and travel cot set up as requested, the cot even had bedding which was an added bonus! The instructions for finding the property and parking up were spot on. We arrived at the property later on in the evening so the welcome treats were very much appreciated! Couldn't fault the property, really lovely stay. Just a shame we were only there for the weekend! Definitely hope to be back soon!

The location is great as it backs onto a woods so perfect for dog walking. The geographic location is 5 mins from the ring road around York giving easy access to all areas of North and East Yorkshire as well as the Park and Ride for visiting York. The accommodation itself is spotless and all the kitchen equipment and bedding were of excellent quality. The heating was fantastic and we were so cosy. I cannot fault it in any way. Hol cotts are often let down by being shabby - not here! We've stayed twice now & each time it was immaculately clean, with all quality furnishings. We chose to sleep in the single beds - so comfortable & clean!! The setting is very, very peaceful with a lovely outlook onto mature trees. We sat outside watching an array of birds feeding on the bird feeder, including a regular woodpecker and squirells. There are lovely strolls to be had around the site & a lovely wood to walk in, our dog loved it here. We visited York every day - 20 min drive (outside of rush hour). Then returning to the Granary after was so comfortable with perfect peace. A wonderful property 10/10. Thank you to the owner Mellissa

Cake on arrival too which was nice! Heating was quirky.....electric panel heaters coming on and off when they felt like it (one bedroom set at 20deg would be fine and warm, while the other bedroom, set at 26 degrees didn't seem to want to stay on at all so room was cold). Just wish we had more time there. We will be returning. Good quiet location (while we were there) with easy access to woodland walks but also not far to go for an outlet shopping mall (with park and ride) and the city. The description failed to mention that the golf course clubhouse on site offers a Sunday carvery which was a pleasant surprise! There is a pub in nearby Wheldrake that serves food (5 minutes by car). The welcoming pack was a lovely idea, as was everything else made available to us during our stay. a big thank you to Melissa and her family they all made you feel so welcome. The cottage totally exceeded our expectations, really nice furniture and fittings and lovely and warm inside as the weather for our week was dry and sunny it was still very cold outside. we spent hours watching the family of squirrels leaping from branch to branch along the trees in front of the cottage as well as all the little robins, wrens, and doves feeding from the bird stand. The pictures of the cottage do not do it justice as the views across the golf course first thing in the morning when everything is covered with the early morning mist and then late in the evening when the winter sun was setting the scene's were purely idyllic. The city of York is only a short distance away as is the designer centre and Monks cross all great places for shopping. Bedside table in the twin room would have been helpful. There was a lamp, but it sat on the window ledge, and was therefore behind the curtain at night. It would have been helpful to have a draining rack at the kitchen sink. The postcode took one to the Farm, rather than showing that the house was adjacent to the golf club - this could be clarified on the website. It would help to give the Ordnance Survey grid reference, as this is more precise.
