The charming and sleepy seaside village of Staithes, with its cobbled streets and back alleys, is something of an artist’s dream. Its pretty houses and cottages are clustered around the old harbour and surrounded by high craggy cliffs on three sides and there is a sheltered sandy beach set amongst the rocky coastline. The village can claim connections with Captain Cook who was apprenticed to a draper near the harbour. Nowadays, Staithes is a must for anyone visiting the Yorkshire Coast and has a good selection of pubs, shops and tea rooms. The best views of the town can be enjoyed from the Cleveland Way which runs down the cliffside to the sea’s edge. Altogether a superb base for exploring the Yorkshire Coast, visiting the larger resorts of Whitby or Scarborough and enjoying the moorland villages of the North York Moors National Park.

A traditional, mid-terraced cottage, overlooking the picturesque fishing village of Staithes in the North York Moors National Park. Providing simple but comfortable accommodation, this Staithes cottage is ideal for families wishing to enjoy this beautiful part of the Heritage Coast. Open tread stairs lead up to the two bedrooms, with fine views of the sea, open countryside and hills, whilst the homely sitting room offers a cosy woodburner, exposed stonework and beamed ceiling. Outside, across a communal path, this Staithes cottage has a small garden, a lovely place to sit and enjoy the sea air. A five minute stroll from this Staithes cottage takes you down the hill to the village, with its quaint cobbled streets, local inns, tea rooms and shop. The art gallery, museum and craft centre are worth a visit, whilst the small, sandy beach with its rock pools and coves are ideal for children. Enjoy a bracing cliff-top walk on the Cleveland Way, which lies on the doorstep of this Staithes cottage, or explore the dramatic scenery of the countryside with its many pretty moorland villages. A lovely Staithes cottage, providing a good base.

Small lawned garden to rear with furniture accessed via steps. Sorry, no pets and no smoking. Shop and pub 5 mins walk. Note: Open tread stairs lead up to the bedrooms. Note: Access to the garden is across a communal path, and down approx 8 steps.

The location - short sharp stroll into Staithes, good cliff paths and inland walks. You can see the sun rise out of rear windows and see it set out of the front windows.

A lovely cosy light filled cottage. The owners had taken a lot of care to ensure a warm welcome. Only a very short walk into the village and harbour but definitely worth it for the peace and quiet, the garden, the views and the easy parking.
