The village of Danby nestles in the beautiful and peaceful Esk Valley in the heart of The North York Moors. The village has two pubs (both serving food), a bakery and tearooms. There is also an excellent National Park Visitor Centre at Danby Lodge – an historic building set in 13 acres of riverside pasture, with facilities which include exhibitions, nature trails and tearooms. Danby also boasts the ruins of a 14th century castle and the only remaining working water mill on the River Esk. The scenic Esk Valley Railway line runs through the village on its way to Whitby. The quaint moorland villages of Hutton-le-Hole and Lastingham, the market town of Pickering, the City of York and the Yorkshire Coast villages of Staithes, Saltburn and Robin Hood’s Bay are all within easy touring distance.

Originally an old barn, this Danby cottage has been converted to provide comfortable family accommodation in a tranquil setting, surrounded by open moorland, with lovely rural views and glimpses of the sea. With a compact, galley-style kitchen, a cosy sitting room with electric woodburner-effect stove and a traditionally styled dining room offering additional comfy seating, this Danby cottage ensures a warm welcome at any time of the year. Your Danby cottage also offers three spacious bedrooms, all of which boast en-suite facilities. The friendly village of Danby is 6 miles from your holiday cottage and is home to attractions such as the Danby Moors Centre, a lovely bakery with tea room and a good local inn, whilst a short drive brings you to the historic fishing port of Whitby with long, sandy beaches, a cobbled market place and a pretty harbour. The stunning landscape of the North York Moors National Park is a haven for walkers, with a network of footpaths close to this North Yorkshire cottage, whilst the numerous pretty coastal and inland villages are a delight to explore.
