The Property

A pretty, semi-detached North York Moors stone cottage, situated in a quiet corner of Kirkbymoorside, yet only a few minutes' walk from the bustling centre of this attractive market town. Lovingly renovated, this quaint Kirkbymoorside cottage boasts the main living areas on the first floor, accessed via an open tread spiral staircase from a character ground floor entrance hall with dining area. The first floor comprises of an open plan living area with a pretty country-style kitchen, dining area and a cosy sitting area, which offers a warming open fire in a traditional cast iron fireplace, plus the welcoming bedroom and bathroom are also on this floor. This sweet little Kirkbymoorside cottage provides a comfortable, romantic retreat for couples. Outside, to the front of this Kirkbymoorside cottage is a small south facing garden, with a partially covered decked patio – a lovely sun trap, perfect for a relaxing evening drink or alfresco dining! Adjacent to this Kirkbymoorside cottage is a small grassed area called ‘The Pound’. Used in the 15th and 16th centuries, this was common land in the town used to hold stray grazing animals, hence the name of this holiday home! The town itself offers excellent amenities, with a good choice of pubs, eateries and individual shops, with a weekly market. For golf lovers, a good course lies just down the road from this Kirkbymoorside cottage and for walkers, numerous public footpaths lead into beautiful countryside. This is a great base to explore the stunning North York Moors National Park and the many local attractions, including Ryedale Folk Museum, Pickering Castle, Duncombe Park, Castle Howard and historic York, to name but a few. An ideal North York Moors cottage for an enjoyable holiday.

Previous visitors' comments about Pound Cottage:

Quiet area - village itself tranquil but with enough shops and pubs to be practical and interesting. Some walks on the doorstep, easy access to many more walks and sites of interest. Cosy cottage with good facilities and equipment - gas cooker & broadband connection.
