  • "The owner is a very warm, friendly and helpful host."

He is easily contactable. We stayed over the Christmas and New Year period and organised to have a beautiful Christmas tree and decorations put up for our arrival. The cottage itself is very spacious with a very well equipped kitchen that we were able to make a Christmas dinner with ease. On arrival the cottage was absolutely spotlessly clean. There is plenty of storage for clothes in the bedroom along with both the ensuite and main bathroom. We could not find any fault with this property at all, and would definitely like to return. The cottage is in the centre of Beauly Village with omly a 2 min walk to the shops, cafes and pub. It is located in a very quiet street off the main road. Thank you to The owner for making us feel very welcome and checking in on us to make sure everything was OK during our enjoyable stay.

  • "Lovely house and great location for day trips - John O'Groats, Inverness, Ullapool."

Beauly is a nice village, the priory is a lovely spot for evening walks with a 99 from The Friary. The restaurants are nice - especially the Indian restaurant next door and the corner shop for pizza & local foods/snacks. And of course, everything you need for cooking at home is there in the fully equipped kitchen. We had a great experience.

  • "Lovely cottage in a beautiful part of Scotland."

Donald the owner is friendly and helpful. We had reason to contact him a couple of times and he was at the door within minutes. Really great service. Fresh linen and towels but the house needs a deeper clean, lots of dust on lamps, blinds etc. A bin would be useful upstairs and despite the house sleeping 6 I would recommend no more than 4 adults as there are only 5 comfy seats in the living room and one long side of the kitchen island doesn’t have room to tuck your knees under ( this is the only dining space). Despite these criticisms the four of us had a wonderful holiday in Beauly and with assurance that the house would be cleaner I wouldn’t hesitate to stay at Maclean Cottage again.

One of the best we've ever stayed at. It was spotlessly clean, had fantastic facilities & provided everything we could have needed for our stay. The location in the village was quiet & made it easy for getting out and about to the surrounding areas. The owner was also a friendly guy & made us feel very welcome. The only, very minor thing, is it would have been nice to have instruction manuals for things like the microwave, TV, oven, cooker etc but we managed to figure them out.

There is plenty of hot water, oodles of storage and we had everything we needed for a comfortable and enjoyable stay - plus the benefit Netflix and two TVs for the teens! Beauly is a lovely little town with two small supermarkets, an ancient Priory, and a range of independent shops, hotels and cafes. About the location

BEAULY

Inverness 12 miles.

Lying on the north bank of the River Beauly, just 12 miles west of Inverness, the village of Beauly is situated at the very heart of the Highlands. An excellent location for touring, the village is within easy reach of Loch Ness, the ancient Caledonian pine forests of Glen Affric and Strathfarrar and the coast (sandy beaches 8 miles). The name Beauly comes from the French “beau lieu” or “beautiful place” and the village prides itself on being both scenic and well-kept, having won both Scotland and Britain in Bloom titles. One of Beauly's highlights is the ruined 13th Century priory, around which the village was built. Today the village is famous for its craft-based industries and offers an excellent selection of shops, pubs and restaurants. With some of the best scenery the Highlands has to offer just on the doorstep, Beauly makes an excellent holiday base!
