  • "Stonewater Cottage is an ideal location for exploring the Highlands, and coupled with great hosts in Michelle and Campbell, made for a great holiday."

The property exceeded our expectations and the walk-in shower was great. We loved the tranquillity of the setting by beautiful Loch Achilty and enjoyed many evening walks along the shore. We are missing our daily visits from the 2 dogs. We would have no hesitation in returning to Stonewater Cottage in the future.

Thank you Jane lovely meeting you both We will look forward to you're return Best wishes Campbell& MIchelle Property Owner

  • "The property suited us perfectly."

It had everything we wanted/needed, good quality fittings and kitchen/BBQ tools, comfy beds and a fantastic shower! It felt private even though neighbouring property was nearby, helped by clever positioning of patio area and angle of chalets. Loch across the minor road was brilliant for us novice paddle boarders. Would be perfect for renting out all 3 chalets simultaneously for big family and friends get together.

  • "I think Sykes could enlarge on the fact that this one of three holiday cottages."

That the Lake is enormous and used by swimmers, fishing, rowing boats etc. Because of its size it remains an unspoilt beauty. Also the proximity of Strathpeffer a Victorian Spa Resport full of the most elegant houses, Pavillion, Pump Room, magnificent hotels. Also the famous Colloden Battle field not to be missed. And the treasure that is Inverness with its castle next to a beautiful clean River, and its hostoric centre with many small shops.

  • "We had a great week staying in the self catering property."

It is in an excellent location far enough away from a town but not too far. There was plenty of outdoor walk’s and mountain bike tracks on your doorstep. Best of all there was a good sized loch a stone throw away from the property. We had taken paddle boards with us so we were in the loch every day. The owners made us very welcome on our arrival and we’re available if there were any problems. If you like outdoor sports or just want to chill out and relax then this property will tick every box.

Thank you Andy & family we hope to see you all in the future. Kind regards Campbell & MIchelle Property Owner

Location was idyllic with the Loch right infront of the cottage. The cottage was spacious bigger than we thought , peaceful , ideal for a family getaway. We would describe it as a hidden little treasure. The owners Michelle and Campbell were very approachable and couldn't help enough. We had a visit daily from Toby the owners dog and several ducks knocking on the patio window.. We will certainly be returning soon with other family and cant wait. A huge thank you Michelle and Campbell once again. Sykes Cottages were brilliant to book with an easy informative company.

  • "We had a fantastic stay at Stone Water Cottage."

The cottage exceeded our expectations and the rooms were bigger than we thought, based on the photos. The cottage was clean, had all amenities and is located in a great position overlooking Loch Achilty. Quiet, peaceful and off the beaten track, with easy access to lots of places! The local area is wonderful to explore on foot, bike and boat- we loved the rowing boats that were available to use. The hosts were friendly, helpful and available for any question. Toby (the dog) was always very welcome visitor. We had a fantastic stay and will return again!

  • "We had a lovely stay in this very comfortable lodge which is situated close to the lochside."

Our hosts popped in a couple of times to check all was well (and to supply some strawberry tarts!), and Toby the spaniel conducted regular patrols around the large lawn area. Close to Contin, you can easily head to either east or west coasts, or down to Loch Ness, etc. The walks around Garve and Rogie Falls are lovely but you're close to Ben Wyvis and plenty of more energetic options too. We'd very happily stay again!

Firstly the setting is beautiful, there is a huge lawn looking over to the loch and it's position is absolutely ideal: quiet but not completely isolated. We loved exploring this gorgeous area, the towns are interesting and the scenery magnificent. The owners are so friendly and are on hand to give advice but they are not intrusive. It was a lovely touch to offer us the use of their rowing boat on the loch and we had great fun using it. Everyone mentions Toby, the owners' cocker Spaniel - he is delightful and very friendly, another wee bonus. Our weather was great and we were able to sit out with a glass of wine enjoying the tranquility and the beautiful surroundings. Can't wait to go back!

The owners are friendly, helpful and welcoming but not intrusive and their adorable dog makes everyone feel at home. The location is an easy drive to Dingwall for food shopping and to Inverness for the airport and the Victorian market. There is plenty to see locally - Tollie red kites, the pictish Eaglestone in Strathpeffer, the lovely Rogie falls are all close by (and free) and it's perfectly placed for exploring the Northern Northern Highlands. We had a very relaxing week of walking, swimming in the Loch and enjoying the clean, fresh air.

About the location

STRATHPEFFER

Inverness 20 miles.

Often compared to a Bavarian Mountain resort, the picturesque spa village of Strathpeffer owes its growth to the discovery of water springs during the 1700s, and was declared in 1819 to be the healthiest drinking water in Britain! The original Spa Pavilion has been magnificently restored after a period of disuse and now serves as a venue for a variety of events, including concerts, dances, dramas and exhibitions. The former Victorian railway station, which in times past brought many visitors from near and far, has now been beautifully restored to house craft workers and their shops, and is also home to the Highland Museum of Childhood. Visit the restored Pump house (also a Tourist Information point), take a walk along a forest track, or enjoy the views from the nearby pictish hill fort at Knockfarrel. Whatever you decide there's plenty on offer for all the family.
