Location: Warkworth

Alnwick 5 miles; Alnmouth 3 miles.

Lying in the loop of the River Coquet on the Heritage Coast, Warkworth is a picturesque village, dominated by the dramatic ruins of its 12th century castle. The history of the village and the castle are intertwined with the Percy Family who took over the castle in 1332. The Percys’ ‘other home’ is nearby Alnwick Castle most recently associated with Harry Potter as the film location of “Hogwarts School”. The main street is lined with Georgian and early Victorian houses and there is an exceptional range of galleries, antique shops, a village shop-cum-post office, pubs, restaurants and gift shops to suit all tastes. Warkworth has its own stretch of sandy beach and a 9 hole ‘pay and play’ golf course. Also within easy touring distance are Hadrian’s Wall, Bamburgh Castle, Holy Island, the Farne Islands, several wonderful beaches and Alnwick Garden with its remarkable water cascade and Tree House Restaurant.

Previous visitors' comments about Park Lodge:

The owners were friendly and there was good access to the main roads, with many beautiful places to visit.
Mr Downing, Doncaster, May 2013

The cottage was very comfortable, clean and warm despite cold weather. The garden was excellent for our dogs and really safely enclosed. The owners were friendly and helpful but unobtrusive. The position of the cottage was excellent, only a few minutes drive from a wonderful beach, Amble and other interesting places. We would definitely like to stay there again!
Mrs Uttley, Barnsley, March 2013

A great base, easy to get to Newcastle in the south and Berwick in the north, with the plus point of only being a minute away from a glorious expanse of sandy beach.
Mrs Helliwell, Huddersfield, October 2012

Owners were welcoming and there was chocolate, flowers and dog treats waiting for us. The house was lovely and clean and in a very peaceful location. The dogs were thoroughly entertained by the rabbits that visited the garden too.
Mrs Render, Scunthorpe, August 2012
