Location: Embleton

Craster 3 miles; Beadnell 4 miles; Alnwick 7 miles.

The pretty village of Embleton is ideally placed for exploring one of the most attractive stretches of Northumberland's Heritage Coastline. A beautiful grassy path runs from the village to neighbouring Craster, alongside the sea and past Dunstanburgh Castle - the largest ruined castle in Northumberland. Embleton itself has four village pubs, two of which serve food, and there is an excellent range of amenities in nearby Alnwick. The gardens at nearby Howick Hall are open during the summer and are noted for their beauty, whilst Alnwick Castle and Garden are a 'must-see' when visiting the area. For the keen golfer, Dunstanburgh Links Course is about 1 mile away - just one of several excellent courses in the vicinity.

Previous visitors' comments about Rock Mill Cottage:

Location was perfect to see the lovely sights of Northumberland. The cottage was cosy, clean, quiet and relaxing. Fantastic!
Miss Gold, York, October 2012

The decor of the cottage and its cleanliness. Also the outside space at front and back. In addition its central location enabled easy access to many different areas of the coast. Friendly owner too.
Mr Formby, Bristol, August 2012

The cottage was lovely and in a very pretty quiet location. The owners were extremely helpful and friendly. The area around Embleton is beautiful and there is so much to do in this unspoilt county. The only problem was that a week isn't long enough to explore all that Northumberland has to offer!
Mrs Baxter, Harrogate, July 2012

Fantastic location with a feeling of peace and perfect isolation when returning to the cottage from days out. Owners were friendly and made us feel very welcome.
