Berwick is England’s most northerly town and changed hands 13 times whilst the English and the Scots fought for control of the Borders! Nowadays this small coastal town retains much of its charm, with quaint narrow streets enclosed within great Elizabethan walls - walks along these offer spectacular views over the coast and river estuary. The town offers excellent amenities including shops/supermarkets, restaurants and pubs, whilst the Maltings Arts Centre provides an extensive programme of cultural events including music, theatre and cinema. Fishing, golf and riding are all available locally and there is a leisure centre in the town offering a pool with waves and flume. Two miles away is the seaside resort of Spittal, with its sandy beaches. Berwick has excellent public transport and there is a frequent train service to both Newcastle and Edinburgh.

A lovely cottage in a great place, lots of places to visit nearby. Everything was provided that we needed. Super!

We had a great holiday in a great location. This is the 2nd time we've holidayed in the area and both have been in Sykes cottages and they have been tremendous holidays. The cottage is so handy for everything, even Edinburgh, where we went by train from Berwick. There's so much do do for all the family. 'The Plough' pub towards Duddo is excellent too. After 2 holidays, we still have loads to see and do - we'll be back!

Lovely cottage, plenty of room for all of us to spread out. Comfortable lounge and a great family kitchen. Very good location for touring Northumberland and Edinburgh. Plenty of supermarkets nearby, lots of places to visit and great walking.

A beautifully converted steading in a great location to explore the area! A great kitchen space that the whole family used, even our tele addict daughter barely used the lounge, preferring to stay in the social kitchen area. Our dog also loved the enclosed garden and long walks down the lanes.
