  • "A fantastic property very well situated for exploring Northumberland."

It was very clean and looked after and felt very warm and homely. The owner had provided everything you could need. The only criticism was that the pillows were quite flat and hard which I know some people prefer but it would be nice to have at least some that are a bit plumper. I would highly recommend this property. We had a fabulous week there.

All the facilities you would want and so clean and tidy. Easy drives to a great many attractions. The hosts were very good. A nice table and chairs at the front on a sun trap was super. Tumble drier was a bonus.

It was spacious, comfortable and up to date with all the things we needed for an enjoyable holiday. There was ample parking and the property provided a great base for exploring the local area including the wonderful Northumbrian coastline. Our hosts were friendly and helpful and made us feel very welcome. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and look forward to returning sometime in the future. Many thanks. Ian & Alice

The owner could not have done more for us and the bottle of wine was a generous gesture. The weather was terrific which gave us a super week.

  • "Fabulous house, ( it would be an insult to call it a cottage)."

Better than any of the others we have stayed in over the years. Well equiped for self catering. Near to Wallington, Cragside National trust properties, plus coastal sites. A good base for walking and site seeing. Just a short trip to Alnwick, and Morpeth. A nice touch that a bottle of wine was left for us, and the owner called to see if we had all we needed. A place definitely to recommend.

  • "Another return stay in this beautiful cottage."

The Granary is delightful, extremely well furnished, spotlessly clean, with everything you need for a very comfortable holiday. The location is ideal for visiting all areas of Northumbria. Some very much appreciated ‘Welcome’ touches and an attentive owner on hand nearby if necessary. We’ve already booked again for next year. Thank you.

  • "The Granary is a beautiful property, well maintained and very clean."

The owners were friendly and the wine, cake and flowers were much appreciated. The review would have been 5 stars, but for one thing, the mattress on the double bed was not comfortable, it was hard and not the quality you expect in this level of property. As it was only my daughter and myself I was able to make the mattress much softer by putting one of the single duvets on top, without this problem it would have been perfect!!

Very clean and well stocked in all the right areas. Good location for Northumberland Coastal Villages & Castles. But beware of speed cameras in and around the village. Saying all that, a very good choice for a holiday break. Geoff & Elaine from Hawarden, North Wales

Lots of coastal walks and castles nearby and Longframlington also has some lovely pubs serving good food. The owners are very knowledgeable about the local area and happily offer advice. Furnished to a very high standard and impeccably kept, it’s home from home and also set in beautiful quiet grounds. The welcome milk, chocolates, cake and wine only enhances the whole experience. Definitely one of the nicest cottages we’ve stayed in.

The property is lovely, in a delightful rural setting -- we were amazed to find a hare on the lawn early one morning! The property was spotlessly clean and had everything you could wish for and all decorated to a high standard.Thank you for making us feel so welcome and for the milk, wine, cake and flowers. It was easy to visit Bamburgh with its amazing beach and castle, Alnwick, Seahouses, Warkworth Castle, Morpeth. We hope to return and highly recommend the property.

It is extremely well equipped and clean and the owners are next door and only too happy to help if needed (which we didn't really need as everything worked and was to hand) The location is good for travel to NT Cragside, the Northumberland coast and Holy Island is less than 1 hour away. Very easy to find things to do. Whilst the cottage is down a country lane it was so quiet, peaceful and enjoyable to sit out on the patio. I don't usually write reviews but I felt I must give credit where it's due. .

  • "The photos of The Granary on the Sykes web site do not do the property justice."

This is the nicest Sykes cottage I have stayed in. The owners were great, coming to greet us and check everything was OK within a couple of hours of our arrival. The property is a barn conversion and has been done to a very high standard, with en suites in both bedrooms as well as another toilet downstairs next to the utility room. The log burner in the living room was prepared with kindling and wood ready to be lit when we arrived, alongside a stock of wood for the week. The village of Longframlington is very nice, with two decent pubs. We had an excellent meal at the Granby Inn, and also had a couple of wonderful breakfasts at the Running Fox bakery / cafe. Over the course of the week we had days out in Edinburgh, Alnwick Castle, Hadrians Wall, Seahouses and Lindisfarne as well as a boat trip out around the Farne Islands. We had a fantastic time at The Granary and our kids have asked if we can go back again next year.
