  • "Croft cottage was an excellent holiday property with everything we could possibly need."

Quiet, comfortable, super facilities, beautifully furnished with good taste in decor. The open plan layout was great and felt very spacious. I highly recommend Croft cottage to anyone wishing to get away from it all in the heart of the Northumbrian countryside.

  • "We were a little disappointed with the long track to the cottage."

This was very narrow uneven and dusty. The cottage it self was lovely and comfortable but could do with a thorough clean. The main surfaces like kitchen bathroom and bedroom were clean but skirting boards corners of rooms and kitchen door cupboards were already for a good clean. In the bathroom the shower hose needs replacing as it’s about to fall apart and the bath plug chain was held with wire but has come apart. In the utility there were two visible set mouse traps. Mice are inevitable in a property set in such a location but not sure they should visible to guests especially if they have small children.Outside there was a stunning huge private garden and patio which was lovely but let down by very tired timber table and chairs which really needs replacing. This could be a stunning holiday let if it wasn’t for these issues

Extremely spacious and a huge garden for the kids to run around in. The owners were polite and friendly but not over powering, we knew they were on hand if needed anything. So much to see and do around the area.

The living area was very comfortable & stylish. We found the bed comfortable and ample storage space in the main bedroom. Two small quibbles. Freezer is very small - just enough for ice cubes & possibly a tub of ice cream. There were lots of wine glasses but only two tumblers.

We had a lovely week at Croft cottage , everything that you could need is there , Jeremy was lovely and helpful too , we arrived early and it wasn’t a problem , my only little moan would be that I think a double quilt on the single beds would be a good idea especially in winter, for a child it’s fine but for an adult it’s a bit harder , , thank you for a lovely stay , we will be back

  • "The cottage was lovely, very well kitted out, and looked great."

The owner was very helpful, especially when we needed help sorting out a flat tyre. The garden and field were great too, good for kite flying and a run around with the kids. The location is really good as well, the local beaches are not far and really big with lovely sand. All the local castles are pretty nearby too. The only request would be for a bit of info to be included in the cottage about the local area, recommendations etc. and also a bit on the cottage - how to use the oven/heating etc. Lovely place and highly recommend it!

  • "Excellent holiday cottage in stunning scenery and very close to some fabulous beaches."

Cottage was really well appointed with all the crockery and cooking utensils you could wish for. Most importantly the knives were sharp and the frying pan was non-stick - sounds daft maybe but we like cooking for ourselves and small things like this make a real difference. Thanks Jeremy, for a really memorable stay..

  • "The cottage is beautifully positioned, very private even though part of a small complex."

Very well appointed, with good quality equipment, although the dryer part of the washer/drier didn't work. It has a washing line but no pegs so take some along. An electric towel rail would be good to dry towels when the heating is off. Part of the footpath to Embelton is closed as the footpath crossing over the mainline railway has been closed so we had quite a walk round. But it's a beautiful walk via Rock. Garden is perfect for a family, room for games and outdoor eating. Beautiful beaches and Embleton church dating from 1150 is worth a visit for quiet time and to see the beautiful windows. What's not to like? Fabulous holiday.

  • "Croft Cottage is NOT luxury accommodation."

We paid £1500 for 1 week and it was not worth nearly this amount. I know Sykes Cottages have inflated the price significantly due to the Pademic. I will never use Sykes Cottages ever again and definitely would tell people to avoid. I would find a private listing in future as I have frequently paid half the amount for better quality accommodation. Enjoy your bumper pademic profit this year but also note the reputational damage you are inflicting to your business by over inflating prices.

Very clean and superbly maintained throughout. Cottage is well stocked with kitchen equipment, towels, extra bedding, high chairs and cots. Very comfortable beds. Jeremy the owner is fantastic - very personable and communicative. Always available but never intrusive. Even left us a nice bottle of wine, milk and chocolate on the first night. Cottage is in an ideal location for the exploring the coast including Bamburgh, Alnwick and Alnmouth - rural, idyllic, and quiet but with easy access to the A1. Cottage has outdoor seating and large garden space which is ideal for summer alfresco dining. Up to date audio-visual with SkyTV available and catch up services. Heating controls are all smartly operated from a central system so simple to use. Large range cooker - ideal for family dining. No expense spared on terms of the fixtures and fittings. Tastefully done. We stayed as a family of 4 with a 1 and 3 year old. We were there for a week and none of us wanted to leave. Will certainly be back and highly recommend to anyone staying in the area.

  • "Great cottage and location."

Really nice welcome pack provided by owners. Very clean and comfortable. Only improvement that could be made is a better quality shower in bathroom, shower worked and pressure good but spray and adjusting awkward and didn’t match luxury theme. Need to provide timer for central heating especially in winter, was cold first thing until you manually boosted controls. It would be a plus to be provided with stocked wood shed as part of stay and price. Initial supply provided and the owners did offer to provide more but we didn’t want the hassle on inconvenience being interrupted during our stay and ended up buying or own. Which cost an extra £30 for our stay. But overall excellent cottage and lovely hosts.

  • "1) The property appeared to be linked to the coast by a footpath, according to the information you provided."

This was not the case, and was misleading in terms of its location. 2) Of the two single beds, one mattress was described by the friend who used it as 'hard', and the other had a tendency to roll you off the bed, due to uneven wear. I think the owners might like to check this. 3) Other than that, high quality accommodation, well equipped, and well presented.

Arrived to find box of goodies including Easter eggs and wine and milk in the fridge. Perfect location close to beaches and castles and wonderful walking. Cottage is part of a farm with two other cottages, but it still feels pretty private and is very quiet, particularly the garden which faces out to the landscape with only fields in sight. Only slight quibble would be how 'green' we could be - we could recycle the usual things but we were hoping there would be a compost bin we could use... We had a lovely week - thank you!
