Location: Acklington

Alnmouth 9 miles; Alnwick 11 miles.

Acklington is a small rural village located just a few miles from the coast and its near neighbour Warkworth. The village has a pub with bar and restaurant (open weekends only in the winter) and, with the many activities and groups held locally, offers a real sense of community spirit. The River Coquet meanders past the village, with a picturesque view from Guyzance Bridge. There is a limited bus and train service to Alnwick, Newcastle and Alnmouth, and the whole of the coast is within easy driving distance. Warkworth, 4 miles away, is a pretty village, dominated by the dramatic ruins of its 12th Century castle. The main street is lined with Georgian and early Victorian houses and there is an exceptional range of galleries and antique shops, a village shop-cum-post office, pubs, restaurants and gift shops to suit all tastes. Warkworth has its own stretch of sandy beach and a 9-hole 'pay and play' golf course. Also within easy touring distance are Hadrian's Wall, Bamburgh Castle, Holy Island, the Farne Islands, several wonderful beaches and Alnwick Garden with its remarkable water cascade.

Previous visitors' comments about Rose Cottage:

The cottage is beautiful, close to our family and the dog loves the beach. The staff in the attached restaurant are lovely and the food served is out of this world. Thanks to you all.
Mrs Carr, Sutton-in-Ashfield, April 2013

The cottage is perfect for two people and no expense has been spared on fixture and fittings. Lovely flat screen TV, comfortable settee, quality bed and bedding and lovely sumptuous thick towels in the bathroom. Although it is right next to the pub, we were never disturbed and the pub itself serves excellent meals, would recommend the steaks.
