  • "Nice tidy clean cottage."

Perhaps a support handrail bar in the shower for us older folk?

Thank you for taking the time to give the cottage 100% feedback. I will look into fixing a hand rail, great suggestion. Regards Tara Property Owner

  • "Perfect location for many tourist attractions and cycling trails."

We found the road very busy and noisy at night and early morning. The owner had thought of many extras at the property such as hand wash at all the sinks, kitchen roll and lots of essentials you would normally need to get. The heating was difficult as very chilly to start with so a simple message to the owner and she put it on. It would have been easier to control at the property as some days we needed the heat when arriving back and we were cold and other times particularly mornings we were hot. Overall a very successful holiday.

The home was very clean and comfortable and tastefully decorated. We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend the cottage to family and friends visiting the area and would definitely book again!

Thank you for your lovely, positive feedback. I try very hard to provide a comfortable stay for all my guests. I hope you had a smooth journey home. Tara Property Owner

  • "Whilst the bathroom is really well appointed a few things would improve it to make it more user friendly."

When using the bath there is nowhere to put a tablet of soap, shampoo etc. so a dish or bath rack should be provided . In addition there were no handrails provided to assist in getting in or out of the bath. The walk in shower was nice but the glass side panel is too short and it was impossible to use the shower without soaking the floor. The floor was not designed to be a wet floor because there was no floor drain installed so some consideration should be given to better containment of the water from this shower. I would also point out that the shower base was completely flat with no anti-slip grooves or pimples in the surface which made it very slippery. Finally the towel rails were unheated and we therefore had to hang our towels out everyday to dry them off. Fortunately it was very hot and sunny so they dried perfectly but they definitely would not have dried had we left them in the bathroom without heating. On a couple of evenings, after a really hot day, the temperature dropped suddenly and it would have been nice to have had some means of heating in the lounge. All in all we enjoyed our stay but I'm not sure that we would whole heartedly recommend the cottage to our friends which is a true test of how we felt about it

Dear Sir, I am always open to constructive feedback but feel a little disappointed you would not recommend the cottage based purely on your personal comments regarding the spacious, well fitted bathroom. I assume the rest of the cottage and the surrounding were spectacular! Regards, Tara Property Owner

  • "Came home yesterday after a week at Hazelmere Cottage and cannot praise it enough."

We were visiting relatives so it wasn't an active holiday we just chilled out. Everything we needed was supplied. The rolled top bath is to die for. Only thing I missed was a full length mirror but that is being very picky. The stairs are very steep but by the end of the week I had mastered them. Highly recommend this cottage. Wish I'd booked a fortnight.

Thank you for your lovely positive comments and I'm glad you enjoyed visiting your relatives. I hope you will book again? Tara Property Owner

  • "This is a well equipped cottage nicely kitted out inside with just about everything you need."

The house is like a tardis with plenty of space inside including a huge impressive bathroom with some quirky art work, and a good sized dining room. The near by Cresswell crags is a great place to visit. One of the reasons we picked this property was for the enclosed garden to let our dog into in the morning. Unfortunately we could not let the dog out off lead as there is an un-gated passageway leading straight onto the road. We ended up taking the dog a short way up the road every day to where there is a large grass verge and a pooh bin. The biggest problem with the property was the heating which is controlled with an app by the owner. The heating is set to 19 degrees and is on from 4pm to 10pm in the evening. I spent the whole week wearing 2 jumpers in the house and feeling progressively colder in the evenings after the heating had gone off. It was particularly cold in the bathroom. There is a large 6kw decorative gas fire in the lounge, however it is extremely inefficient allowing most of the heat to go up the chimney rather than into the room. I dread to think how much it costs to run, I am sure it would have been cheaper to turn up the central heating! We were there at the beginning of April when overnight temperatures were down to zero on a couple of days. If you go in the summer you should not have those problems and should enjoy a very pleasant stay.

Thank you for your positive feedback regarding the cottage and the area. I understand your comments regarding the garden but as this is a shared lawn we are not at liberty to restrict access. The yard is enclosed and with so many footpaths within walking distance our dog loves the area. I do not want any guest to be uncomfortable during their stay and following your text message I increased the heating to 21c for the duration of your stay. I would be delighted if you would visit again this summer. Tara Property Owner

It's absolutely huge and spacious inside and beautifully presented . The bathroom is fantastic , roll top bath , walk in shower and the biggest sink I've ever seen. The outside area is great for dogs and children. We loved it that much we stayed an extra week , we could have easily lived there. There are some fantastic walks on the doorstep and Sherwood Forrest is a must visit,we will definitely be back to explore more of this wonderful area in the summer.

Decent kitchen with everything you need. Nicely decorated. Nice and clean. We stayed in other properties in the same price range and this was leagues above so great value for money. Whilst close to the countryside bus and train links were very good. 5 minutes to supermarket and other amenities. The owner was lovely, very accomodating, friendly and helpful. We liked it so much we added an extra 2 weeks onto our stay. There is a a lovely country pub up the road which does food from scratch rather than typical chain food. Would definitely recommend.

  • "What a lovely place to stay!"

It is a tardis as others have said. Everything you need is here...it has a well equipped kitchen, the beds are comfortable, and it is a very relaxing place to be. There are many places to visit in the area...the most amazing being Creswell Crags. You will need to get there early, as there is such a lot to see. Whitwell woods are well worth a visit, short and longer walking routes. A variety of other places to visit around 30 minutes away to the south...you will be spoilt for choice and every journey takes you through beautiful countryside. Very responsive host...if you have any questions, she will respond quickly, usually by email. We had a long stay, prior to our moving abroad and so we spent more time in the house than might be usual and it became our home. Thank you Tara, we will fondly remember our stay.

Thank you for your lovely comments and I am so pleased you had the opportunity to visit the wonderful attractions in the area before your new adventures. Tara Property Owner

  • "On the whole we had a great stay in Hazelmere Cottage."

Everything we need was provided. The beds were very comfortable, the property was clean and very presented. Unfortunately the stairs were very steep which was a challenge as we are both over 70, but on the whole we managed. We didn't get any use out of the dining room as the days that we stayed in were cold and there was no way of getting any heating. The heating only comes on at night. There is a gas fire in the front room but this then restricts us to sitting in this room only. Otherwise everything was fine. I would certainly stay here again but only in summer time.

Thank you for your positive feedback. Apologies if the temperature at the cottage was too low for your comfort before 4pm, I would have been happy to adjust it for you. I hope you will visit again. Kind regards Tara Property Owner

  • "Lovely holiday with our tween and teen."

Just over an hour to the Peak District, did archery and air rifle at the tournament ground in Blythe, pony trekking at Derbyshire pony trekking 10 mins away, Bolsover castle, you could walk to Creswell crags but book early if you want to go in the caves as it was fully booked when we came. Cottage had everything we needed although a bigger saucepan might have been handy. Be careful with the kettle as the steam is very close to your hand - we used the oven glove. Kids woke at 6.39 most mornings as they could hear neighbours through the wall. We woke to lovely bright sunshine every morning (bring a mask if you like it dark). We snuggled under a blanket in the evenings and wished we’d brought slippers although it clearly says we could have put the heating on if we’d wanted to - it didn’t warrant that but there was a chill. Bring or buy dish washer tablets but everything else provided. Was a 10-15 min walk to the local co op and fish and chips shop. Didn’t meet the owner but didn’t need to. We had a lovely week in the cottage. Kind housekeeper found our daughter’s mask under the pillow and owner arranged for it to be posted back to us- really appreciated.

Thank you for staying at my cottage and I am pleased you received your daughter's mask. I am glad you found some of the walks and attractions in the local area. A large saucepan is a new addition to the kitchen :) Tara Property Owner

And the complimentary toiletries were a nice touch, as well as the biscuits in the well-equipped kitchen. Although we did find we missed a wooden spoon or similar for stirring our soup and baked beans. (I’m probably just being a bit picky!) The beds were comfortable and the whole place got nice and toasty in the evening - and the fire in the lounge helped make it all feel super-snug. The kids were amazed at how comfy the sofas were! Many thanks to our hosts at making us feel welcome. We would certainly think about coming again.

  • "This cottage was incredible."

Rather like a Tardis - bigger on the inside than the outside. There was just so much space and having the spacious downstairs toilet next to the backdoor worked brilliantly. Although the lawn is shared it was pleasant to sit out on the paved area after our day out on the Saturday of our weekend away. We didn't see the neighbours. The parking area at the front of the property was plenty big enough for my citroen C3 Picasso. The property has a good level of entertainment with the smart TV in the lounge as well as TVs in the dining room and the double bedroom. The upstairs bathroom is massive. The only slight issue seemed to be that the taps were not securely attached to the sinks. I would definitely stay at this cottage again if I was looking for somewhere in this area. Once there is less restriction because of the pandemic it would be nice to explore the area again with a longer stay.

Thank you for your lovely comments, I am pleased you enjoyed your stay at my spacious cottage. Property Owner

Hazelmere Cottage was once a miner's cottage, now showcasing attractive accommodation for a family of four.

Step inside after taking in the pretty exterior and parking on the off-road parking space, and discover the front sitting room, where a homely setup of two sofas, a gas fire set within a traditional fireplace, and a Smart TV all rest, providing somewhere to relax after a busy, exciting day.

Grab one of the board games from this room and take it into the kitchen/diner, gather around the quaint cottage-style table and grey painted chairs, and enjoy hours of family fun.

A sofa bed and a TV can be found in the dining space too, offering a flexible sleeping arrangement, or just somewhere to settle with a good book for a peaceful moment.

Continue into the beautiful kitchen when everyone's feeling hungry, and be met with bright white cupboards, light wood worktops and pretty blue tiling, home to some quality appliances, including a fridge/freezer, induction hob, electric oven and a washing machine.

From here, while dinner cooks, take a drink and some nibbles out to the enclosed garden; the lawn space is shared with the other properties either side, but with the benefit of a patio with seating just for your use, it's a perfect setting to enjoy on a summer's evening.

At the end of the day, travel up the steep stairs to the first floor and be welcomed into one of the two bedrooms, either the spacious double bedroom, or the excellent twin, both enjoying crisp white bed linen, with cheerful yellow accents throughout the decor, and feature wallpaper, creating a delightful environment to rest in.

Take an hour aside to enjoy a soak in the luxurious roll-top bath in the bathroom, where there's also a walk-in shower too, and afterwards dry off with a toasty towel from the heated rail.

Walk into the village of Creswell for any supplies, with a small selection of local shops to choose from, or dine out for the evening at one of the lovely and welcoming pubs in the area.
