"cosy cottage"

Cottage, very stylishly fitted out. Communication with owner first class. Village has everything you require, co-op, chip shop, indian, chinese, bakers and a few pubs. Countryside within 5 minutes walk of cottage - ideal if you have dogs with you. Just turn right out of front door, then follow footpath signs (on your right). Cottage had a very warm feel to it, would go again.

Location: Delph Village, Saddleworth

Uppermill 2 miles; Marsden 6 miles; Oldham 6 miles.

The picturesque village of Delph is located on the Yorkshire/Lancashire border and has barely changed from its 19th century hey-day, when its small mills were at the heart of a thriving community. Today it remains an ideal start for walks up the Castleshaw Valley to the Roman Fort, one of a series built on the Roman military road from Chester to York. Delph boasts several village festivals including a charity beer walk and brass band contest! Nearby, the largest of the Saddleworth villages, Uppermill is situated in the valley below Saddleworth Church and is dominated by an impressive viaduct. The architecture of this attractive village is highlighted in the Local Interest Trail leaflets available from the Tourist Information Centre. Saddleworth Museum highlights the history of the area from Roman times and also has an art gallery with changing exhibitions. The Huddersfield Narrow Canal runs through the village and the canal boat trips and boat traffic attract many visitors. Other attractions include Brownhills Countryside Centre, numerous craft shops, art galleries, gift shops, restaurants, public houses and tea shops.
