  • "The cottage was beautiful, clean and very homely."

It was lovely that children toys were provided in the accommodation and it was only a short walk to see pigs, horses and chickens. The outdoor play area and go karts were great fun and our children loved it. All cooking equipment was available which was very helpful. The beds were clean and comfortable, log fires the wood was provided. The shower in the middle bedroom wasn’t great the shower head needs replacing, which is an easy fix. We would have loved to have used the pool, however when booking we didn’t read that you had to pay extra to use it and that under 4’s aren’t allowed in there. Feel it would have been more appropriate to include the price of the pool in the accommodation price and then allocate a booking form for people to book their 90 minute slots. The book looked amazing and it’s ashame we didn’t get to use it. The pool didn’t affect our stay and we really enjoyed it!

  • "Some of the furnishings are shabby."

Ie. Rips in chairs. There was an abundance of flies downstairs without any fly traps or fly catch devices. The patio had swarms of wasps which made sitting outside uncomfortable and stressful. Could do with moving bins away from property and placing fly and wasp traps around to dissuade the pests.

  • "Generally we all enjoyed the week, especially the children on the trikes."

A very nice place to stay. Good scenery and walks available locally. Towels and kitchen sudries are supplied; not itemised in the listing at all. Only 1 egg cup for 11 guests! 1 toilet with water hammering; not repaired whilst we were there. Confusion over cost and time available for the pool; prices have increased since listing created but not changed. Allways some little things to niggle, but a very enjoyable week.

  • "A very sensitive and successful conversion of a listed former agricultural building to holiday accommodation."

Very comfortable inside with all the facilities and utilities that are specified and that one would need (take your own bath towels). As a very minor criticism, one double bedroom and its ensuite are somewhat cramped, but given that in a conversion of this order not everything can be perfect, we quite readily accepted this. As a family of 11 with 5 grandchildren of varying ages we were very impressed with the range of games and activities that were provided for on site. Also, as most people live in fairly 'ordinary' homes, as the three households in our family do, it was an exhilarating experience to reside in a building of such antiquity and character, and with such lovely surroundings. It was expensive for the two days we were there, but self catering holiday accommodation for 11 with four separate double bedrooms and bathroom facilities is not that easy to find, and as this was for a significant family celebration, we bit the bullet. Absolutely no regrets and very happy memories for all.

Extremely well equipped and Sara could not have been more helpful when we had small issues with two of the showers. Everything was fixed and sorted immediately. She was also extremely informative about places of interest to visit. The indoor pool is a brilliant facility and was very much appreciated by all in our party during the recent heatwave week. Feeding our fruit, vegetable and bakery waste to the pot-bellied pigs, pygmy goats and chickens was a daily delight. The countryside is stunning and there are masses of places of interest to visit.

The surroundings are beautiful and there's lots of places to visit that are not too far away. The owner was always on hand when we needed help and we were made to feel very welcome. It's a fantastic place to take children with the play area, go carts, animals and then there's all the farm to explore. There were even toys, books and colouring bits in the house itself which was so helpful. We would definitely recommend staying here and would not hesitate to go back.

They have thought of everything for the guests with including children’s toys, baby walkers, toys, films, board games etc being within the home. We managed to see a couple of the lambs being born which made our holiday alongside with being able to fully get involved with the farm life in collecting our own eggs from the chicken pen in a morning and feeding the pigs daily also. The only downside to this holiday was how costly the swimming pool and gym facilities were. At £10 a head including very young children is very expensive especially when you have such a big family and the slot being only 2 hours at that price. Unfortunately this was the only downside to our stay. Overall we had a lovely week away and would definitely return in the future.

The internal lay out of the property was just superb for us, so interesting with all the features kept from its previous existence. So much space for everyone. Heating was great, no issues at all. The whole site was just brilliant. To use the swimming pool was extra, but £10 a head was okay for a one off treat for all the family, and the gym was included in that price. The pool itself is beautiful and we actually took out a weeks membership for us two, to use it twice a day. That was extra, but it really was special. Sarah was on hand if needed and very helpful. It really made the special get together for our close family for the birthday so unforgettable.
