The village of Audlem is set amongst wonderful countryside on the Cheshire/Shropshire border, and offers the imposing St James' Church in the village centre. Running alongside the village you will find the Shropshire Union canal, with its 15 locks, where walks along the towpath, now called the Weaver Way, and through the meadows can be enjoyed. Audlem provides an active community centre where regular parties, events, badminton and snooker are on offer, plus there are three village pubs, two on the canal itself and one in the village centre, a tourist office and many shops offering local souvenirs and gifts. Within the surrounding area you will find a whole host of attractions from a tour of an underground nuclear bunker, to the renowned Stapeley Water Gardens. Six miles away is the medieval town of Nantwich, which boasts weekly street markets and an open-air lido. Audlem is in a superb location for touring Shropshire, Cheshire and North Wales.

Audlem 2 miles. Situated on the owners’ smallholding with horses and sheep in the surrounding fields and boasting lovely unspoilt countryside views, this Audlem cottage has been delightfully renovated to offer traditional, homely accommodation. Retaining much of its original character, this Audlem cottage has stable doors, exposed beams and quirky round windows with shutters, along with a cosy sitting room with an electric woodburner-effect stove, a well-equipped, fitted kitchen with dining area, two bedrooms and a bathroom. Outside, this Audlem cottage has a sunny, secluded decking area with a fantastic hot tub in which to relax whilst enjoying the open views towards an old windmill. A gate leads directly off the decking onto fields, where you can enjoy countryside walks, plus only two miles away is the Shropshire Union canal, which is a walker’s paradise. Horses are welcome here too, ideal for enjoying the countryside from the saddle. An excellent Audlem cottage, which provides a peaceful getaway, whatever the time of year.
