About the location

Fenny Bentley

Ashbourne 2 miles.

The pretty village of Fenny Bentley lies 2 miles north of Ashbourne. Life in Fenny Bentley revolves, as it has done for years, around the pub and the church. The Church of St Edmund dates back to the 14th century. Some particular features of the church are its 16th century screens and the alabaster Beresford tomb. The heart of the village is surely the Coach & Horses, a welcoming coaching inn with real ales. Just 2 miles away, the traditional market town of Ashbourne, once a fashionable social centre in the 18th Century, boasts an eccentric street plan, quaint cobbled alleyways, old market stalls and welcoming coaching inns. Many fine Georgian buildings remain and host a good selection of restaurants and interesting antique shops. For those who prefer outdoor pursuits, the Dove and Manifold valleys are close by offering excellent walking and cycling opportunities, whilst the thrills and spills of Alton Towers are just a short drive away.

The property, and everything connected with it was more than excellent. The owner was very helpful, advising on places to visit. A very enjoyable holiday, we would go back again.

Mr Clark, Ballymoney, September 2013

Cottage had everything we needed for our holiday. The private garden was perfect as we were able to make full use of it, and after buying bird food, we had a really good selection of birds visiting us every day, including a woodpecker. We particularly liked the fact that there was a good pub and restaurant only two minutes walk away.

Mrs Blanning, Frome, July 2013

Church Barn had absolutely everything you could wish for on a Peak District holiday. It had so much character! It was cosy, comfortable, very clean with a lovely garden and a great pub (Coach & Horses) within a few minutes walk - what’s not to like!! There was nothing that I would change. It was perfect! The owner of the property gave us a warm welcome and showed us around. He was exceptionally friendly and very helpful.

Meredith, Worcester Park, June 2013

Lovely owner, beautiful cottage and garden, plenty to do within a short distance.
