Lying at the southern end of the Peak District, Ashbourne is a perfect example of an English market town - market place with stalls, eccentric street plan, narrow cobbled alleys, coaching inns and almshouses. In its heyday in the 18th century, the town was a fashionable social centre and many fine Georgian buildings remain from this period. Today the town still has much to offer in terms of restaurants and inns and is regarded as something of a haven for antique hunters - but don’t expect a bargain! For those who prefer more outdoor pursuits, the Dove and Manifold Valleys are close by. Alton Towers is just 20 minutes away.

Old Hall Farm

Ashbourne 2 miles. A group of properties situated in the small rural hamlet of Upper Mayfield, just 2 miles from the market town of Ashbourne on the southern fringes of the Peak District National Park. These Peak District cottages have been created from the conversion of old stone farm buildings, retaining features such as old beams and stone fireplaces to offer simple, affordable accommodation in an idyllic rural setting. The cottages share mature south facing gardens, with magnificent views across rolling countryside. Alton Towers is 5 miles away, and with the hills, valleys and trails of the Peak District all within easy reach, these cottages make a superb base for walkers.

The Property

The largest of the cottages, this detached stone built house dates back to 1845. A particular feature is the cosy sitting room with its open fireplace and solid oak floors. A simple and comfortable base for getting out and about in the Peak District.

Three bedrooms: 1 x double, 1 x twin, 1 x ground floor double with en-suite shower, washbasin and WC. Bathroom with bath, washbasin and WC. Fitted kitchen with hatch to dining area. Large sitting/dining room with solid oak floor and feature open fireplace. Hallway.
