Ashbourne 5 miles; Carsington Water 3 miles.
Steeped in history, situated at the southern end of the Peak District, lies the lovely hamlet of Atlow, which, nine centuries ago, was part of the Royal Duffield Forest of Frith. Atlow is close to a number of smaller hamlets including Hulland Moss, Hulland Upper and Nether Biggin, which together are made up of a scattering of traditional brick built cottages, old farmhouses and barn conversions, surrounded by beautiful rolling countryside and offering a number of country pubs renowned locally for excellent service and fine cuisine. Nearby Ashbourne is the perfect example of an English market town, with narrow cobbled alleys, old market stalls and many fine coaching inns, as well as an 18-hole golf course. The town offers a good selection of restaurants, whilst being regarded as something of a haven for antique hunters. For those who prefer outdoor pursuits, Carsington Water is one of the country's premier watersports centres, offering excellent sailing and a host of other activities including fly fishing, walking, bird watching, cycling and pony rides. For those who prefer outdoor pursuits, the Dove and Manifold Valleys are close by offering good walking and cycling, whilst Alton Towers is just a 30 minute drive away.

Previous visitors' comments about Hollies Barn:
Beautifully maintained barn conversion with all the mod cons. Lovely location and the owners were very accommodating. We had a wonderful relaxing break.
Mrs Taylor, Mexborough, November 2011
The property was very well equipped, clean & cosy and a brilliant base for exploring the Peak District. We thought that the eggs, milk & biscuits were a very nice, welcoming touch. My daughter enjoyed visiting the new piglets on the farm too!
