Winkhill is a tiny hamlet in rural Staffordshire, and is just 1 mile from the village of Waterhouses. Waterhouses lies between the market towns of Leek and Ashbourne on the southern fringes of the Peak National Park. The village was once the terminus of the Manifold Valley Light Railway, which is now the scenic Manifold Cycle Track, winding its way through the picturesque valleys of the Rivers Hamps and Manifold. The track is flat and traffic-free for cyclists, walkers and horse-riders. The Waterhouses area offers a village shop, a post office, pubs and a cafe/takeaway. The famous Alton Towers Theme Park is only a short drive away.

We were made to feel at home here, everything had been thought of. We would have stayed longer if we could. A very charming cottage with excellent hosts. A very relaxing area and great for walks, visiting Leek, Ashbourne, Bakewell and Dovedale.
