The pretty village of Baslow lies at the north end of stately Chatsworth House - home to the Duke and Duchess of Devonshire. The village has many unusual and picturesque features including a triple-arched river bridge guarded by a toll house whose doorway is only 3 1/2 feet high! Baslow offers a range of village amenities including shops, pubs and restaurants. Close by is Bakewell, the capital of the Peak District, and home of the famous Bakewell pudding (definitely not tart!), still made locally to an old and secret recipe. Bakewell is at the scenic heart of the Peak District, and with Alton Towers also within easy touring distance, there is plenty for the whole family to enjoy.

Previous visitors' comments about 2 Brookside Cottage:
The property is located very conveniently for access to all parts of the Peak District. It is close to a cafe, shop and pub that serves very good food. The view from the main window is of a stream with trout and woodlands. It is quiet with no road noise and parking is not a problem.

Mrs Lowe, Darlington, May 2012
The house was perfectly placed next to Chatsworth, which was great for daily walks. The two local pubs were friendly and the cafe on the green was very good value for money. The house itself was ideally sized for us. The stairs were very steep, but we were just careful when using them. Overall, a perfect holiday.
Mrs Hunter-Rice, Birmingham, December 2011
