Location: Baslow

Chatsworth 1 mile; Bakewell 5 miles.

The pretty village of Baslow lies at the north end of stately Chatsworth House - home to the Duke and Duchess of Devonshire. The village has many unusual and picturesque features including a triple-arched river bridge guarded by a toll house whose doorway is only 3 1/2 feet high! Baslow offers a range of village amenities including shops, pubs and restaurants. Close by is Bakewell, the capital of the Peak District, and home of the famous Bakewell pudding (definitely not tart!), still made locally to an old and secret recipe. Bakewell is at the scenic heart of the Peak District, and with Alton Towers also within easy touring distance, there is plenty for the whole family to enjoy.

Previous visitors' comments about Brook Cottage:

It was a perfect location for us with Chatsworth Park just over the road and plenty of good walking nearby.
Mrs Keeley, Sutton Coldfield, February 2012

We had a great time. Loved the open fire in the living room and general cosiness of the property. Great location with pubs/shop nearby and Chatsworth on the doorstep.
Mr Newton, Keighley, November 2011

Really lovely location and the house was cute and interesting. Had everything we needed and two good pubs within walking distance.
Ms Johnson, Woodford Green, August 2011

The cottage is a really good place to stay for a week and made an excellent walking base. The location is brilliant! This was the first holiday we have taken with a dog, and it was ideal - the mutt loved it.
