Location: Great Hucklow

Bakewell 8 miles; Buxton 11 miles.

The peaceful, idyllic village of Great Hucklow lies on the border of the distinctive landscapes of the Peak District - the limestone dales of “the white peak” and the gritstone moorland of “the dark peak” - thus providing wonderfully contrasting walking country. There is a village pub serving food and interesting beers. The village holds its traditional well-dressing and gala day in the second week of August and has spectacular lights at Christmas. Neighbouring villages are Eyam - “the plague village”, Tideswell - home to “the Cathedral of The Peak”, and Bradwell - historic lead mining village and gateway to The Caverns and The Pennines.

Cottage was well-equipped. Lovely setting. Owners very friendly and helpful.

Excellent! Will be back. Lovely (very compact) but very cosy cottage with great views (Peak District mist permitting), lots of nice touches. Very friendly owners, who welcome rather than just tolerate dogs (including our boxer).
Mr Brooks, Loughborough, March 2013

I appreciated the communication prior to my arrival and the very warm welcome when I got there. The cottage is just beautiful, so so cosy with the fire, also the bed is the comfiest bed I have ever slept in! Thank you.
Rev Wooding, Sheffield, December 2012

A great location, ideal for walking in the Peak District.
