The peaceful, idyllic village of Great Hucklow lies on the border of the distinctive landscapes of the Peak District - the limestone dales of “the white peak” and the gritstone moorland of “the dark peak” - thus providing wonderfully contrasting walking country. There is a village pub serving food and interesting beers. The village holds its traditional well-dressing and gala day in the second week of August and has spectacular lights at Christmas. Neighbouring villages are Eyam - “the plague village”, Tideswell - home to “the Cathedral of The Peak”, and Bradwell - historic lead mining village and gateway to The Caverns and The Pennines.

Previous visitors' comments about Burrs Cottage:
The views from the cottage were spectacular and the woodburner was very efficient. Nice touch from the owners with milk and jams in the fridge and a tray of sweets. Maximum use of available space in the cottage. The bed was lovely and comfy.
Mrs Sullivan, Bourne, December 2011
A lovely cottage in a lovely setting. A very cosy, comfortable cottage. Also, the owners were very pleasant and helpful. We would visit this cottage again in the future. We had a pleasant meal in the pub down in the village, all in all a lovely weekend.
Mrs Duncan, Liverpool, November 2011
The cottage was very cosy with excellent views. Great walks from the door. It seemed remote yet pub was only 5 minutes walk down the track. There were also little treats to greet us, such as homemade jam, marmalade and chocolates. Plenty of fuel provided for the woodburner and our dog was made very welcome.
Mrs Barnes, Melton Constable, October 2011
This was our third visit. A cosy, comfortable cottage in a lovely area. Very dog friendly. We will revisit time and time again!
