  • "Another great stay and I'm sure we will be back."

The cottage has everything we need, there are some good walks from the doorstep, regular public transport from the village and restaurants for eating out.

  • "Parking was a problem especially back of property to unload our belongings into cottage and again on leaving due to car parked over gateway and against back way also noise from adjoining cottage especially being woken at 5."

30am in the morning onwards on a positive point cottage excellent location just a note would be good idea to mention the angle of stairs and touch light switches not turn

  • "A great cosy cottage in an excellent location for walking and visiting places in the Peaks and Dales."

The cottage was very well equipped with a very comfy bed, excellent shower and bath. The open plan living / kitchen area had a really relaxing feel and everything we needed. Tracey, the owner provided a comprehensive email guide to places to visit and eat and a very helpful phone call check in when we arrived. It is a semi detached cottage and we were aware of the neighbour on occasions. There are some good places to eat and drink in the village all within a ten minute walk from the cottage.

  • "Lovely warm cottage, very comfy bed, excellent shower."

Walks from the cottage in every direction so no need to use the car. Superb food at The Devonshire Arms and Il Lupo in Baslow but bookings essential.

  • "Lovely cottage in great central location, ideally placed to explore the Peak District."

Village amenities very good too. Cottage was spotlessly clean and good COVID measures in place. Just need to be aware that it is a semi detached property so you are aware of the neighbours at times.

Very clean and everything you need. They really have thought of everything. Very helpful host too with lots of information about things to do, walks and places to eat. It is small but perfect for two.

What a wonderful time. The cottage was stunning. Standard of cleanliness was second to none. Owner Tracey was very helpful on our arrival giving us information about the cottage and places to visit in the area. Would definitely recommend the cottage in fact we are looking at booking again.

  • "Tracey was a great host."

Before we arrived she called to give us a run down of the area and local amenities. The cottage was lovely and cosy, and extra lengths were taken by Tracey to ensure the cottage was at a very high level of cleanliness and safe during covid. We would highly recommend this cottage and surrounding area for a break away from city life.

The owner was especially helpful, and explained all the features very clearly on our arrival. Baslow is an excellent base for a holiday, plenty to see and do nearby, and lots of good food locations within a local walk.

  • "Stunning cottage in a beautiful area."

Loved every second of our stay here and will definitely be returning. Fabulous owner who made sure we new everything about the area and that we were happy with the accommodation. Just perfect!

  • "When we first entered the property there was a real musty damp smell but it turned out to be the drains under the kitchen sink."

I ran some hot water and put some disinfectant down and that seemed to work but the trap underneath probably needs replacing. First thing on arrival we had to go out on a bank holiday in search of milk, a small bottle in the fridge would have been a nice touch. Property very nicely done, all facilities worked perfectly, description accurate, lovely bathroom, great location.

  • "My wife and I had a four night stay in Ash Cottage in May 2018."

It was perfect for our needs. The cottage is located in a very quiet area of Baslow, well away from the main roads and yet within easy walking distance of the village shop, pubs and restaurants. It made an excellent base for hiking in this lovely part of the Peak District and is a gentle, pleasant walk away from the Chatsworth estate. The house itself has been renovated and refurbished in a modern style and to a very high standard. The house comes with all the facilities and conveniences that one would hope to find in a holiday let, including a utility room (in the basement), WiFi and a smart TV with a wide range of channels on offer. The owner made it very easy for us to pick up and drop off the key and was very helpful in answering our questions about the house and the local area. We would be very happy to stay here again.

  • "Everything about the cottage was lovely, although downstairs was a little cramped."

It did not affect us but the steps leading up to the house and those leading upstairs would have been difficult for anybody with mobility problems.

  • "Ash Cottage is a 'bijou', friendly, comfortable yet smart cottage in the lovely village of Baslow."

While small, it is not cramped in the least bit and is very well laid out. Super-comfortable bed, cosy living area with a very cheering log-effect fan heater, a well appointed kitchen and everything one would need for a great holiday. It felt like home from the start! A small query was answered impressively quickly by the owner via text. Excellent communication. Having a good and reliable Internet connection was important and Ash Cottage certainly has that. It didn't drop once. The local shop/post office is literally one minute's walk down the road and is a very friendly place while the amazing Chatsworth Farm Shop is within easy driving distance. Very convenient. Ash Cottage turned what was always going to be a good holiday into a fantastic one and I shall be back!

Rained for two days solid, but quality of cottage made staying in a comfortable rest whilst watching catch up TV in preparation for more walking and exploring when weather perked up. Bathroom exceptional, bed huge.

  • "Lovely little cottage, extremely clean."

Lovely location, just up the road from the Devonshire Arms which did lovely food and a couple of doors down from the local shop. My only slight gripe was the lack of sound proofing between the attached cottages. When the lady next door was talking she may as well have been in the same room. Other than that, a totally fabulous cottage, the gorgeous, big bathroom was my favourite

About the location

BASLOW

Chatsworth 1 mile; Bakewell 5 miles.

The pretty village of Baslow lies at the north end of stately Chatsworth House - home to the Duke and Duchess of Devonshire. The village has many unusual and picturesque features including a triple-arched river bridge guarded by a toll house whose doorway is only 3 1/2 feet high! Baslow offers a range of village amenities including shops, pubs and restaurants. Close by is Bakewell, the capital of the Peak District, and home of the famous Bakewell pudding (definitely not tart!), still made locally to an old and secret recipe. Bakewell is at the scenic heart of the Peak District, and with Alton Towers also within easy touring distance, there is plenty for the whole family to enjoy.
