  • "Fantastic property in the perfect location for us."

Plenty of walking trails and nearby shops, restaurants and pubs. The property has all you need to ensure a very enjoyable and comfortable stay.

  • "Our third stay at The Old Sawmill was at Oak Cottage."

Like the other cottages it is cleverly designed to maximise the space and is very clean and comfortable. It is well equipped, down to the boot scraper and brush outside the door. We also appreciate the electrically operated skylights with black out shades. Our hosts kindly left us biscuits, milk and wine. They are responsive if there is a problem but are not intrusive. The local area is beautiful with lovely walks from the doorstep. We will return!

  • "We've had the pleasure of staying in 3 different cottages at The Old Sawmill, which are all of exceptional quality."

Oak Cottage is a really spacious 2-bedroom property, with a view of the garden and the woods beyond, not to mention a great spot for night-time stargazing. All are well-designed & built, beautifully decorated, warm, well equipped, and very clean & comfortable. They are situated in a wonderfully peaceful location, with fantastic walks right from the doorstep. The owners respond quickly and professionally should you have any queries. It's the perfect place in which to unwind and/or enjoy the great outdoors!

  • "A very comfortable spacious cottage."

Well equipped. Only thing we would have liked more information about recycling and how to operate the electric fire and control for heating. Good internet so we asked Google and managed to get the heating sorted. A lovely peaceful place and central for great days out.

  • "The key safe was particularly difficult to use."

Better lighting over the key safe would help but with elderly, arthritic fingers it was very stressful to access the property. This might seem to be a trivial comment but after a long and tiring journey, we were not impressed to find it so hard to locate the key. Thankfully it was not raining but it was dark and chilly.

Oak Cottage (indoor and out) and surroundings did not disappoint at all and the welcome pack was a lovely surprise. We would certainly go back for another visit.

  • "We enjoyed our break at Oak cottage despite the snow and rain."

The facilities were very good and the cottage was quite stylish however we do not thin this cottage is as dog friendly as advertised for the following reasons : As the dogs were not allowed upstairs to sleep the open plan downstairs was difficult to police. Dogs were not allowed on furniture we were not told to bring a cage to contain the dog and the out side area dogs had to be on a lead the whole time the only thing we found dog friendly was the outside hose and the easy clean flooring. £20 dog fee and a possible £300 housekeeping fine. We would not considered this cottage if we had known the restrictions.

  • "A lovely cottage."

Spacious, clean and well equipped. Further out from Bolsterstone village than expected and too far to walk to the pub for an evening drink. Maybe a note to advise on that would be helpful. That said I’d book again in a heartbeat.

  • "Comfortable cottage, clean and warm in a peaceful and secure location."

We have stayed in many cottages and have always received a warm welcome from the owners, Oak cottage communication was always through Sykes, the owners live on site but made no contact during our stay. Cannot fault the cottage but it lacked the personal touch.

  • "Oak Cottage is in a lovely location and has good facilities but there are a couple of things that could make it even better The kitchen has insufficient storage space for groceries and the fridge/freezer is way too small."

The details should make much more of the patio area at the back as this was a great place to sit in the sun etc. We found the beds a bit uncomfortable after a couple of days and the blinds on the velux windows let in too much light so made it difficult to sleep after sunrise. The hot water was very hot and could be a hazard to smaller children albeit ours are teenagers! We also thought the sofas were a bit uncomfortable and took up a lot of space although the lazy boys were nice!

It felt so homely and comfy. We had everything we needed and the location was brilliant! Very close to lots of walks and even some gorgeous walks right on the doorstep! My only feedback would be that the bedrooms are so light as there are no blackout blinds so we woke very early every day!
