  • "Nice stay. We stayed from Thursday to Sunday so parked in the Square from Thursday night then from Friday night at the property."

£3.90 per day in the square. 3 flights of stairs were no issue for us and quicker than the very very slow lift. Very well equipped property was generally clean although would benefit from a more thorough clean in areas outside the general living space and dusting out of the eye line. (Thick dust on living room window cill and on top of beams, doors etc) Very well located, can be a bit noisy from the road but that didn't really cause us any problems. Head room limited in some areas. Nice and warm and controllable heating. Lovely box of chocolates to welcome us. Generally as described with good location and very well equipped. Would recommend to those fit enough to do the stairs as you'll get impatient waiting for the lift.

  • "The property was exactly as advertised and very comfortable."

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Pre arrival information could be improved as it was difficult to identify the key safe number from the emails sent. An email sent in reply to Sykes asking for help sadly received no reply. The information about free parking should also be amended as it only applies outside of working hours.

Only issue was we couldn't find the instructions for the hob, we'd never used an induction hob before but we soon figure it out though first meal was burnt. Despite this little setback would rent the property again if we visit Buxton again.

  • "Description was misleading, yes had lift that a wheelchair could fit into but no way was rest of apartment disable friendly."

Bathroom is an accident waiting to happen with an ordinary shower, no grab rails, no shower stool, nothing to support a disabled person. Floor tiles extremely slippery and bath not fixed to floor properly. Bedroom with small double bed almost impossible to move around in due to ceiling beams. Husband had fall in main bedroom and slipped in bathroom. We feel wording of advertising implies it is disabled friendly, it is not. It is clean

Thank you for your feedback. It is a shame that you didn't contact anybody during your stay as the owners want all of their guests to have a great stay. The property isn't advertised as disabled friendly, as it has a walk in shower and not a wet room. Sykes are always happy to answer any specific questions that you have about a property before you book as we also want you to have a great holiday. The owner has confirmed that the bath is a freestanding bath and is secure and was pleased that you found the property clean. Thank you again for your feedback Property Owner

However the stomping from the flats below could be heard in our apartment. Small things like bins in the bedrooms and lounge would have been useful. The bathroom although clean, lacked useful storage for toothbrushes and toiletries etc. no where to hang towels whilst taking a shower

Parking was no problem . Traffic a bit noisy in the early hours (large lorries), a part from that a brilliant place to stay smack bank in the middle of Buxton. If we ever go to Buxton again we would consider staying at 13 Eagle Parade again.

  • "The instructions for key collection were confusing/misleading."

Inside the porch there are 4 key boxes on the wall and we were given instructions that our key was in the bottom one. However the code didn't work and no-one was available on the contact phone number provided (just goes to voicemail, and no one responded to my messages). Was only a short-term problem however as we then thought to try the code in the other boxes and it worked for a different box.

  • "This is a great flat, we enjoyed our stay, thank you."

I think the description needs to warn about the noise though. We stayed on Friday and Saturday night and the noise of drunk people outside, shouting and using bad language went on for a long time on both nights. I think it would be reasonable to mention in the description that this location is very close to local nightlife and noise should be expected.

  • "Loved the location of this apartment and also the apartment was beautifully fitted out."

It was also immaculate. The owners had definitely tried to ensure that everything was provided for a super stay. Our only observation is that we visited Buxton with friends and the second bedroom was not really suitable for senior visitors. In fairness it was advertised as a 4’ bed, but because Apartment 13 is in the attic of the building, it wasn’t very practical for senior visitors. The bed in the second bedroom was against a low ceiling which makes it difficult to get in and out of bed. Despite the issue with the height of the second bedroom ceiling, the beds were extremely comfortable. We would definitely stay again, but if there are 4 adults would like to try apartment 11 or 12.

  • "The apartment was lovely and well kept."

The front door to the building was smashed and repair was taking place over our stay which would have been nice to know before hand. Some basic items from the kitchen were not provided which was a little dull. Oil, Salt and pepper and tea bags should be a standard. However it was appreciated that washing and dishwashing tablets were provided. The noise bleed from the pub and clubs in the area was particularly bad over the weekend. There were some other people staying in our building who lost their key and were apparently told to buzz the other flats in order to get in. We are not sure if these are flats operated by you, but it was frustrating as they buzzed at 1:30am at least 5 times before we finally let them in to stop them.

Clean. Beds were divine. Right in the town centresp.easy access.to everywhere and good pubs less than 5 mins walk. Sainsburys is on your doorstep as well. The only down side is recieved a parking fine despite paying for a displaying a ticket as per the rules. I am challenging it but its slow and annoying. The daily parking rate was also a hindrance as you needed exact change every day. A parking permit would be a good thing for the owners to have.

The apartment was clean, spacious and very tastefully decorated. Upon arrival, there's a lovely welcome booklet which explains all you need to know about the apartment itself, as well as tips for local places to eat and visit. There was even complementary wine and chocolates waiting on the table, as well milk in the fridge. It seems a though the owners have gone out of their way to cover any needs a visitor might have and l was very impressed. The bed was probably one of the comfiest l have slept in and l was quite sorry to leave this place. The apartment is literally minutes away from all of Buxton's main attractions and the bus stop for Manchester, Bakewell, Marlock Bath and Ashbourne a stones throw away. A Sainsbury's local next door is helpful for stocking up on any essentials.

  • "13 Eagle Parade is a tastefully decorated and comprehensively equipped apartment which provides a great base to explore the High Peak area."

We deliberately chose a town centre location to be near the various activities and amenities and this proved to be very convenient. The only downside is the level of background noise outside the building arising from visitor to the adjacent night spots and the through traffic, including heavy lorries. Both sources of noise could be heard in the early hours and this may be unsatisfactory for some holiday makers. The apartment is on the top floor with several flights of stairs to reach it. However, the lift provides a comfortable alternative, if a little quirky in operation. Overall our experience was excellent and enjoyable.

The appartment is marvelous! High quality of funiture, kitchen bedrooms and Bathroom. We have been in so many places and cottages and always, without any exception they had terrible beds and sofa's. The surrouding is Great! ! But the best of all where the beds. I suver for many years a terrible back-and neckpain. And now for the first time in years I've slept without any pain at all! For me a real miracle!! I always take a special airbed with me That gives me the oppurtunity to sleep a little bite better with a bite less of pain. But now iI've tried your super bed first and this time I woke up, in the middle of the night, just because I wasn't feeling any pain. I was over the moon and so thankfull. From the bottom of my heart THANK YOU SO MUCH!! Tim, the Quality of the apartment is very high Standard. Everything is superb!!! And from minute one, it feld like home. For all these reasons I absolutly will recommend your property to all my friends, family and everybody who wants to hear. And ..... We will be back for sure. Kind regards Ad, Yentl and Brenda

Two minor points: the instructions about parking need to have an addition that one part of the marketplace public car park is closed from very early in the morning (I think 0500) on Tuesdays and Saturdays, which means you can't leave the car in that bit overnight; and the bathroom would benefit from a shelf for toiletries (probably easy to add) and a powerpoint for electric shavers and toothbrushes (perhaps more complex). Otherwise perfect!

About the location

BUXTON

Tideswell 7 miles; Bakewell 12 miles; Matlock 21 miles.

It was the constant 28 degrees centigrade of the bubbling blue waters of Buxton's eight thermal springs that originally attracted the Romans to the town. However it was during the 18th and 19th centuries, under the patronage of successive Dukes of Devonshire, that the Palladian splendour of the Buxton of today was designed and built - including the magnificent semi-circular Crescent, The Great Stable, Hall Bank, The Square, The Pavilion Gardens and The Opera House. Today visitors continue to enjoy these magnificent buildings and gardens, as well as the Opera House's full programme and annual festivals of music and arts. There is good walking close by with rugged peaks to the north and gentle hills and dales to the south and a number of pretty towns and villages are dotted throughout including Bakewell, Ashford-in-the-Water, Castleton and Edale. The stunning properties of Chatsworth House and Haddon Hall are within easy driving distance and must be seen while visiting this area. A great base for exploring the Peak District.
