Bradwell is a pretty village in the Hope Valley, in prime position in the Peak District National Park. The picturesque village of Castleton is just three miles away, home to fascinating caves. Castleton is overlooked by the crumbling Mam Tor or "Shivering Mountain" with the dramatic scenery of Winnats Pass and Edale in the Edale Valley, known as the start of the Pennine Way, nearby. Hathersage is just four miles away and has excellent cafes and an open air, heated swimming pool. Slightly further afield you can potter around the historic market town of Bakewell, or the Spa town of Buxton, renowned for its spring water and opera house. It is easy to spend a whole day at Chatsworth House, while there are plenty of historic properties nearby. Pull on your boots and enjoy the spectacular scenery, with walks for all abilities, or explore a web of cycling trails, with bike hire available on the Monsal Trail and at the Derwent/Ladybower Reservoir. Bradwell itself has shops, pubs and places to eat and makes an excellent base for enjoying this beautiful part of the country.

Previous visitors' comments about Smalldale:
The cottage itself was cosy and warm. A well equipped kitchen meant we could cook up big hearty winter breakfasts as well as prepare all the local goods we picked up on our adventures in the evening. Thanks again to the owner for the bottle of wine and coffee!! A great base to explore the peaks! We did a good days hike in Edale followed by a day exploring Eyam, Chatsworth House, Bakewell and Matlock Baths. The Bowling Green Pub around the corner was very friendly and welcoming.

The location of the cottage is excellent! Beautiful places were within a few miles drive.
Mr Colussi, Harlow, January 2012
The location and set-up of the property. Its proximity to the excellent pub, the Bowling Green. The parking right outside. The warm and cosy nature of the place, and the arrangements for us to collect the keys etc. We would love to rent Smalldale again.
Dr Zilkha, Taunton, November 2011
The cottage was very quiet, clean and comfortable. It is in a good situation for walking and visiting places of interest. Local bakery is excellent for rolls and beautiful ham.
