Oakerthorpe is a small village in the south of Derbyshire, and boasts several pubs. There are walks around the village and beyond, moving up the valley to some of the most beautiful views of the Derbyshire Dales. Supermarkets, shops and a post office are available in nearby Alfreton. Crich, the home of the National Tramway Museum is 4 miles away, and Matlock, 8 miles away, offers a range of shops, pubs and restaurants, as well as attractions including Gulliver's Kingdom. Magnificent views down the gorge can be enjoyed from the cable car that takes visitors up to the Heights of Abraham - a great place for all the family with its show-caves, nature trail, water gardens and Owl Maze. A little bit further away is the start of the High Peak Cycle Trail, while other places to discover include the market town of Bakewell, Chatsworth House and park and Haddon Hall, with Carsington Water offering fantastic watersports - not to be missed! Oakerthorpe offers some good pubs serving food. Crich is just 4 miles away, and is known as Cardale in the TV series Peak Practice. Also home to the famous Tramway Museum, Crich offers a choice of shops and pubs, whilst numerous pretty walks can be enjoyed from the doorstep. Visit majestic Chatsworth House, enjoy the fantastic watersports at Carsington Water, or explore the fabulous market towns of Matlock and Bakewell.
