Mentioned in the Domesday book, Allestree is a lovely village surrounded by parkland and with a good choice of shops and eateries, parks and golf course. Within striking distance is Derby which is a vibrant city where you can enjoy the full city experience plus little extras such as Ghost Walks and a spooky vigil at Derby Gaol, a visit to Derby County's Pride Park, the home of the Rams, or the many museums the city offers and enjoy the fantastic shopping experience. If all that gets a bit too much, enjoy the tranquillity of the Peak District and attractions such as the fantastic walks, cycle paths, country houses - Kedleston Hall is just a short drive and a bit further is Chatsworth House and Haddon Hall.
