Your home away from home

Welcome to Montclair – Your Elegant Escape in Buxton.

Tucked away in the heart of Buxton, Montclair is a beautiful Edwardian home that blends timeless charm with modern comfort.

Just a short stroll from the town’s vibrant bars, restaurants and cultural attractions, and with the stunning Peak District right on your doorstep, this is the perfect base for an unforgettable countryside escape.

Whether you’re planning a celebration with friends or a relaxed family gathering, Montclair is designed to bring people together.

With generous living spaces, a formal dining room that seats ten, and a sun-soaked conservatory overlooking Buxton Country Park, there’s plenty of room to reconnect, unwind and make new memories.

Space to Relax, Room to Gather.

The living room is warm and welcoming, with comfy seating for ten – ideal for movie nights, board games, or simply curling up by the open fire with a good book.

The elegant dining room invites long, lazy brunches and relaxed evening get-togethers, while the kitchen’s informal dining space for six makes everyday moments just as special.

Step outside and you’ll find a spacious, enclosed garden perfect for summer barbecues, al fresco lunches, or a peaceful morning coffee surrounded by birdsong.

Flexible and Comfortable Bedrooms.

Each of Montclair’s bedrooms is bright and inviting, dressed with hotel-quality 100% cotton linen, fluffy towels, and a choice of pillows and duvets to suit the season.

Two rooms also feature fold-out sofa beds, offering flexible sleeping arrangements for larger groups or families with children.

Perfect for Dogs – and Their Humans.

We know holidays are better with four-legged companions, and Montclair couldn’t be more dog-friendly.

With a fully enclosed garden, dog-washing facilities, and fields just behind the house, it’s easy to explore together.

Head out the front door and within 20 minutes you’ll be standing atop Solomon’s Temple, soaking in panoramic views of Buxton and beyond.

Adventure, Culture and Countryside – All Within Reach.

Montclair is ideally placed for exploring all that Buxton and the wider Peak District have to offer.

Just minutes away, you’ll find Poole’s Cavern – a breath-taking natural wonder – and the thrilling high ropes of Go Ape.

A little further afield lie the iconic landscapes of Mam Tor, Kinder Scout and Edale, as well as family favourites like Alton Towers and the historic charm of Chatsworth House and Bakewell.

For younger guests, a visit to Pavilion Gardens is a must – think ducks, a miniature railway, a brilliant playground and plenty of green space to burn off steam.

The Botanical Gardens and local ice cream parlour are perfect for slower-paced days.

Buxton’s world-renowned Opera House has an exciting and varied programme of events including musical concerts, drama, children's shows, dance, pantomime, comedy and opera to enjoy with around 450 performances each year.

The Finishing Touches.

After a day of adventure, kick off your boots in the porch and settle in for a cosy evening.

With a private games room, a crackling woodburning stove and countryside views from every corner, Montclair promises comfort, character and a true sense of escape – whatever the season.

Note: This property has a Good Housekeeping bond of £500.

BUXTON

Tideswell 7 miles; Bakewell 12 miles; Matlock 21 miles.

It was the constant 28 degrees centigrade of the bubbling blue waters of Buxton's eight thermal springs that originally attracted the Romans to the town. However it was during the 18th and 19th centuries, under the patronage of successive Dukes of Devonshire, that the Palladian splendour of the Buxton of today was designed and built - including the magnificent semi-circular Crescent, The Great Stable, Hall Bank, The Square, The Pavilion Gardens and The Opera House. Today visitors continue to enjoy these magnificent buildings and gardens, as well as the Opera House's full programme and annual festivals of music and arts. There is good walking close by with rugged peaks to the north and gentle hills and dales to the south and a number of pretty towns and villages are dotted throughout including Bakewell, Ashford-in-the-Water, Castleton and Edale. The stunning properties of Chatsworth House and Haddon Hall are within easy driving distance and must be seen while visiting this area. A great base for exploring the Peak District.
