  • "A really lovely and extremely comfortable holiday cottage that we couldn't fault in any way."

It was really well equipped with quality furniture and equipment and somewhere that we would be happy to live full time! A real home from home presented in a really first class condition. If only all holiday properties were the same!

  • "Cottage lovely clean garden lovely but l would suggest that you change your listing on pets welcome to no pets at all as we couldn’t let our small dog in the garden as if he barked your neighbours were out complaining so it spoiled our holiday as because we couldn’t let our dog out we couldn’t go out in the garden and leave him inside."

We booked the holiday because we liked the garden for us and our dog to enjoy but because of your neighbours we couldn’t and it spoiled it for us .

I’m so sorry you have had a negative experience during your stay at Valley View Cottage. We have been inviting guests and their dogs to stay for over 5 years and in that time have never had any problems with our neighbours, the comments are usually about how friendly they are - perhaps there were extenuating circumstances and I can only apologise again. The view from the lounge is beautiful. The cottage is well situated for country walks, which we did, but relaxing enough to just sit in the garden with a book if the weather is fine. A very enjoyable stay here.

  • "What a fantastic cottage."

We spent a week at Valley View Cottage in early October. The photo's do not do it justice. It has everything you need. A perfect size for us & our dog Ralphy. The views were lovely, greeted by horses most days when you open the curtains. Nice walks near the cottage & plenty more a short drive away. The towns of Buxton & Bakewell are worth a visit. The only issue we had was leaving that wonderful kitchen & utility room, we only have a small kitchen at home & to have a proper eat in kitchen was a real treat (I even cooked a couple of nights!) • "I have only given a smile for the accuracy of the listing because the photos do not do any justice to this wonderful cottage."

It really is like home from home. Some cottages you stay in are very ‘artificial’ as they seem like something from a hotel brochure. I can assure that Valley View is so wonderfully presented, evoking a homely atmosphere with top brand furniture and textiles. I cannot wait to visit it again as this cottage had everything I needed - including a flashlight for when the electric as off due to heavy snow. The owners, Helen and Peter are truly the most helpful I have come across on my ‘Syke Cottage’ travels. When the electric went off for a couple of hours, Helen was quickly on to the relevant authority to let me know when it would be on. Nothing seemed any trouble for Helen and Peter. Thank you for such a fabulous stay!!!!

Immaculately clean, very comfortable. Wanted for nothing. The views are stunning. Very good communication with the owner. Parking is very tight but doable. Walks from the cottage can be steep but certainly worth it for the views. So many places to visit in the area in any direction! We are already trying to plan when we can go back!

  • "Lovely, very well equipped cottage in a beautiful setting."

Good situation for visiting lots of lovely places within 20 miles or so, Buxton, Bakewell, Rudyard Lake and Dovedale were a few we visited. Good dog walking from the door. Only slight snag we found was the parking, which was a bit tricky. However there was plenty parking a short walk away at the top of the lane. Everything in the cottage worked perfectly, which is slightly unusual in our experience....The can opener opened cans, the knives cut, and the washing machine, drier and cooker were very simple to operate!

Really relaxing and peaceful cottage. everything you needed for a good stay. The views from the garden are stunning. The horses running in the fields around the cottage is good to see. The locals are very friendly as is the local pub, food and drink is good. There is a little honesty shop up the lane that sells fresh eggs and a variety of essentials. We would love to come again for a 3rd visit. missing the cottage already. Thank you Helen.

We would recommend it to your customers. It is a well maintained cottage and it’s the hidden extras which makes it. For example a welcome pack of coffee milk and biscuits also liquid soaps and washing up liquids and dish washer tablets. It’s not far from places to visit Carsington Water, Buxton,Dovedale.

There are a couple of footpaths close by so plenty of choice for dog walking. The cottage itself is wonderfully homely and extremely well equipped and decorated, we found no issues parking it’s as you would expect with a small row of cottages. We were lucky enough to visit as the leaves were changing colour and the views each day of the valley were breathtaking, if you like nature then I’m sure most seasons give equally spectacular views and would recommend you visit this cottage.

Clean, comfortable and has all the home comforts you could need. Big luxury bath, and a very comfy bed with top quality bedding provided. Great neighbours, warm and welcoming but not intrusive. A fab little tea room just down the hill, walks on the doorstep. The parking is a little tricky but there is ample room at the top of the hill, just a short walk away from the house. Secluded and right in the countryside yet served by a pet friendly pub within an easy enough uphill walk. We did have to keep our Staffy on lead in the garden because of the terracing and the possibility of her leaping down into next door's garden but it would be fine for most well behaved and less daredevil dogs! The bathroom is fantastic, loved the large shower cubicle. The kitchen is homely and very well equipped apart from there being no tablespoon, serving spoon or tongs, as far as I could see. A home from home with lots of nice touches. The owner quickly sorted out a problem we had during the week after I phoned her, thank you! I definitely recommend this place.

It was lovely listening to woodpeckers and wild pheasants and watching the buzzards flying high and the horses in the meadows at the bottom of the garden. The cottage is very clean and spacious and is very well equipped. The lounge is very welcoming and comfortable after a day out walking. It has a huge farmhouse kitchen with all the tools and equipment if you like cook. The bathroom has plenty of space with a large bath and seperate shower. Bedroom was big with comfy bed and good linens. We did not have any issues wtih parking we followed the instructions given from Helen the property owner who was very friendly and helpful.
