    • “A brilliant home for the week. Clean, comfortable, good location.”

    • “We had a great week visiting various attractions. 8-10 minutes by car to Alton Towers although still go early and well before 10am opening otherwise a 10 minute trip can turn into an hour sitting in queues to get in to the car park. Hawthorn Park Follies definately worth a trip and great for the dogs. Next door to the Churnet Valley Steam Train Station which was another attraction we could tke the dogs. The house was perfect for our family of 5 and two dogs to call home for the week. We cooked, ordered take aways and had some lovely meals in near by pubs and restaurants. There were plenty of leaflets in the house for things to do and places to eat. A lovely touch were the towels in the utility room especially for the dogs. Considering it is rented to visitors with pets, the house was very clean and well maintained. Excellent value for money.”

    • “This cottage was in the perfect location for our family holiday consisting of mainly visiting Alton Towers and the Water park - ten minutes away on quiet roads. Cottage was spacious, well presented, lovely views and great garden with bbq. Couldn't fault it except for one thing the drive to the cottage is on a very steep hill with a very awkward, practically blind access onto a fast road at times, Easily solved however with a mirror across the road to aid the driver in getting out. Then it really would be 100% perfect. Great memories :)”

    • “The cottage was very clean and had everything you needed. The garden was completely safe to let the dogs run around in and not have to worry about them finding a place to escape. Everything you would need was here and there was a nice pub just a minute walk down the hill next to the steam railway.”

    • “Cottage fully surpassed our expectations, there was nothing which was required that had not already been thought of and subsequently been provided within the premises. Location was great, next to a lovely little pub and ideal for our trip to Alton Towers. The owner of the property was very thoughtful and made contact on the day of arrival to enquire if everything was in order and also advised that she was only at the other end of the phone if we had any problems. I would not hesitate to recommend this property and would be very delighted to visit it again, Thank you.”

About the location

Ashbourne 11 miles; Leek 8 miles.

Froghall lies in the beautiful wooded slopes of the Churnet Valley, in the Staffordshire Moorlands and on the southern fringe of the Peak District. The hamlet has a pub, which serves food, and the nearby hamlet of Foxt also has a pub serving good food, whilst the nearby village of Ipstones has a village shop/Post Office and two pubs. It’s an excellent base for a holiday, with a vast selection of walks for all abilities on the doorstep, plus there is an excellent golf course in Whiston, which is just a five minute drive away and there are four other courses within a 25 minute drive. There are also fascinating relics of the area’s industrial heritage - the Caldon canal (built in 1776 and restored and opened for navigation in 1974) runs through the valley and visitors will enjoy a scenic ride on the Churnet Valley Railway steam trains. A great touring base for exploring all of the Peak District and the Staffordshire Moorlands – Alton Towers is just a 10 minute drive away and the nearby Potteries are well worth a visit.
