The old traditional Pennine town of Holmfirth is situated in the heart of the beautiful Holme Valley, on the edge of the West Yorkshire Pennines. The town is full of lovely old stone cottages and interesting winding streets to explore, and has numerous festivals throughout the year which include exhibits in the fields of music and the arts. Holmfirth also has a good public swimming pool, parks and some super shops and restaurants. Holmfirth, will be remembered by many as being the home of Compo, Cleggy and Nora Batty, from the long running comedy series 'Last of the Summer Wine', so why not join the tour which covers the locations of some of their escapades? Continuing the TV theme, the nearby Colne Valley is home to fictional 'Skelthwaite' from the successful series 'Where the Heart Is'. Previous visitors' comments about Cinder Cottage:

I liked the holiday because the accommodation was first class, and the situation of the cottage was so very quaint and pretty, turning a complete change to a wonderful break. I would recommend the Yorkshire Dales to anyone.
Miss Harris, Seaford, September 2011

The holiday was brilliant. The accommodation excellent, warm and a friendly welcome awaits anyone whom stays here. There are lots of hills near by so be prepared for a bit of a walk. The accommodation was superb and we could not fault it at all. We would definitely recommend.
Mr Staniforth, King's Lynn, September 2011

Excellent cottage. We were greeted very warmly by the owner upon arrival, and shown around the cottage, which was decorated in a modern yet homely style. Delicious homemade scones with jam and cream were provided! There was a good amount of space and it was very well equipped. It is also very convenient both for Holmfirth and for the surrounding areas.
Miss Selby, Oxford, September 2011

After a long journey, we arrived to find 4 fresh scones in a tin with a welcome note from the owner and she had also put milk, jam & clotted cream in the fridge. There was also salt & pepper in the grinders, and the cooking tins/pans utensils all looked like new. It was perfect, a really high standard. The cottage was well equipped with a box file of places of interest, walks etc.
