  • "Lovely little cottage, right on the foot of the trail up to Win Hill."

The views were beautiful. The cottage was clean, well decorated and actually a little bit nicer than the pictures. The pool was a great addition, and again was a little bigger and better than the pictures. The only thing we would want to change is that there was only one bathroom for an 8 person cottage & the toilet in the pool didn't work (the flush was broken and if no-one was in the pool, the light timed out and turned off leaving you in the dark). Overall, a fantastic cottage and we would definitely recommend ☺️

  • "Lovely location and pretty cottage."

The back garden was ideal. The surrounding area was beautiful and there was lots to do. Sophie and the team were very responsive very accommodating. The information folder was useful. There was a lovely welcoming gift bag containing some local produce. We were 4 adults and 4 children under the age of 5 and the cottage was too probably small for this number (although there were enough beds). Small ‘galley’ kitchen and one small bathroom with one toilet. We couldn’t find a cafetière, so we bought one as coffee was essential. The sharp knives need to be sharpened….chopping took a long time. A dishwasher would make a big difference (could hang pans and fit a half size one in). The bottle opener only just functioned…it took a while to open wine and there were some split corks….could do with replacing with a new one. Overall, most of the kitchen equipment was ikea and could do with updating. We had a birthday and some fizz, but there was only one champagne glass. There was a fitting for a fire alarm between first and second floors, but no fire alarm. We weren’t sure if there should be an alarm there? The local Indian restaurant was lovely and we had a take away delivered to the cottage ….although they only take cash and no card payments.

Thank you for your review Abby, I am glad you enjoyed the garden and the surroundings. The cafetiere was in the cupboard I sorry that you missed this. We shall look to replace the knives. As explained, a dishwasher cannot currently be put in the cottages as we are on spring water and the pressure wouldn't allow this but our water is one of the nicest water to drink so we are very reluctant to go onto mains water that is full of chemicals and we also are trying to make are carbon footprint smaller by using what we have on the land. We have been through the kitchen equipment and replaced anything we feel that may need replacing. Again thank you for your review. Property Owner

  • "My only negative was the chloronebin the pool was so strong we could only stay in there 20/30mins as it stung or eyes."

There was several times I was only in the pool area to supervise, not in the water at all but it still got to me. Obviously I appreciate that this is in order to keep the pool clean and open to all visitors and is something that can not be helped. I just wanted to give an honest review.

Hi Emma, Our chemicals are checked daily so are always correct for and within the required limits. We have now had a unit put in the swimming pool to allow airflow through to stop any standing air with chlorine that may of caused this. It has been fine since, I hope you can visit again in the future. Property Owner

  • "This cottage is on a working farm and shares the garden and pool with the next door cottage, yet in these still uncertain covid times the owners succeeded in making us all feel safe with easy to follow covid guidelines."

We didn’t feel restricted at all and have come home feeling restored with some great memories. The kitchen is well equipped for whipping up family feasts which is just as well because there are some amazing food producers here as well as good pubs, restaurants and tea shops. The location is perfect, stunning scenery and plenty of hills to walk off the extra calories you will undoubtedly eat topped off with a relaxing swim at the end of the day.

Thank you for your review Property Owner

  • "We booked the two cottages so that we didn't have to share the amenities especially during Covid."

The furnishings and pool are more up to date than shown in the actual photographs. The pool is a great size with good facilities. The garden area has lots of outdoor space which was ideal for us. The views and surrounding area are stunning. We would definitely return for another visit.

  • "Beautiful farm location in a very picturesque village."

We loved the cottage which was very well equipped only small difficulty was shortage of worktop space in the Kitchen area when cooking for eight people. Bedrooms were all a very good size and beds very comfortable. Children loved the swimming pool which was very welcome after a day out. The shared garden is very pretty with plenty of seating and a barbecue area. . Highly recommended.

Out of the front door and on to the hills. Great for families with plenty of safe outdoor space. The swimming pool is lovely, warm, clean and good fun on tired or rainy days. The two cottages would be perfect for large families or groups.

  • "Some of the place mats in both accommodations have passed their sell-by date, really tatty, otherwise a comfortable cottage."

Would benefit from additional toilet facilities, only 1 toilet for 8 people - problem if someone is having a bath or shower. Not always possible to get to the toilet in the swimming pool area.

Twitchill Farm Holiday Cottages

This group of two charming stone-built cottages are in the extensive grounds of the owner’s working farm, on the outskirts of the lovely Peak District towns of Hope and Castleton, with breathtaking views across the stunning Hope Valley. With private use of a large heated indoor swimming pool, the cottages offer the perfect setting for multiple family holidays or large groups. They are warm and cosy and decorated to traditional tastes. The bedrooms are comfortable and the open plan living areas with kitchen, dining area and sitting areas are a great place for a lively get together. The two cottages can be taken individually or they can be opened out as one through a link door on the top floor. There are small patio areas at the front of the cottages, where you can sit and watch the sun dip over the Shivering Mountain, Mam Tor; and to the rear of the cottages there are decked areas for group alfresco dining with large tables under the shelter of gazebos. The extensive lawn is the ideal place to kick a ball or throw a frisbee, assuming you still have the energy after a splash around in the heated indoor pool which has its own changing and showering facilities and is for the exclusive use of the cottages. As tempting as it might be to spend your entire break here, there is an exhaustive choice of things to do in and around the area. How about exploring a castle, take a boat trip 450m underground or delve into a deep cavern called The Devil’s Arse! With all of this within two miles of your front door, you won’t have to venture far to discover an amazing array of attractions in this wonderful area.
