Huddersfield 3 miles; Holmfirth 7 miles.
The traditional West Riding village of Almondbury is situated just 3 miles to the south east of Huddersfield in the south Pennines. The village is steeped in history and still retains several notable buildings including the 16th century Wormald's Hall, now the village Conservative club, and All Hallows Church; Almondbury even appeared in the Domesday Book. Nearby Holmfirth will be remembered by most as being the home of Compo, Cleggy and Nora Batty, from the long running comedy series 'Last of the Summer Wine', whilst the nearby Colne Valley is home to fictional 'Skelthwaite' from the successful TV series 'Where The Heart Is'. Within easy reach of the northern Peak District, and the southern Dales, Almondbury is well situated to offer beautiful countryside and great walking opportunities, or alternatively, an hour's drive could take you to the historic city of York, elegant Harrogate, or vibrant Leeds. This traditional village is well situated for a variety of activities, suitable for all tastes.

Previous visitors' comments about One Sharp Lane:
The location was very good in a very pretty village. The pub was thirty yards away, which for a New Year break was excellent. The owners also popped in to ensure we were comfortable which I thought was a lovely gesture.
