We went to Dovedale which is very pretty, Kedleston Hall (well worth a visit), also the recommended circular walk around Shirley and Ormaston is enjoyable with two pubs to choose from. Mobile phone connection in the cottage is poor and there is no wifi. This didn't affect us but it may be essential for others.
