About the location

Matlock Bath

Matlock 1 mile; Bakewell 9 miles.

Matlock Bath is located in the beautiful wooded gorge of the River Derwent, 1 mile from Matlock, surrounded by wooded hills and cliffs. It developed as a Spa town in the 1800s and is also famous for its connections with Sir Richard Arkwright and the cotton trade, often being referred to as the cradle of the Industrial Revolution. Today Matlock Bath offers a selection of pubs and shops, Arkwright's Cromford Mill, a world heritage site, and Venetian Nights during September and October, which feature decorated and illuminated boats floating along the river. The village boasts a plethora of attractions such as Gulliver's Kingdom, the Peak District Mining Museum or you can enjoy a ride on the Heights of Abraham cable car where you can take in the views in style. The splendid Chatsworth House, Haddon Hall and Crich Tramway museum are close by, or take advantage of good walking around the Derwent Valley and White Peak and cycling at Carsington Water and the High Peak Cycle Trail.

Good location, nice big house with big enough living room and dining room to sit everyone.

Mr James, Sleaford, November 2013

We loved the location and the general ambiance of the whole property.

Miss Lawrence, Swindon, September 2012

The property could not have been in a better location and local attractions were easily accessible by foot. The house was beautifully furnished and had ample room for 10 people.

Miss Clarke, Chesterfield, August 2012
