The area is criss-crossed with footpaths, leading to beautiful walks, while nearby Matlock offers a host of shops, pubs and restaurants, an interesting museum and a large park offering recreational activities. The beautiful market town of Bakewell, with its 14th Century Gothic bridge spanning the scenic River Wye is well worth a visit whilst Gulliver's Kingdom will entertain the whole family. An ideal base for an enjoyable holiday at any time of year.

Note: Stairs inside cottage and 4 steps which lead to garden are fairly steep. Ensure care is taken.

The charming and traditional conservation village of Bonsall is situated at the heart of the Derbyshire Dales, on the edge of the Peak District National Park, 4 miles from Matlock. Named in the Domesday Book, with a history dating back to Roman times, this former lead mining and textile producing village is renowned for the World Hen Racing Championship's held on the first Saturday in August at the Barley Mow pub. An active village, with the Open Gardens in June, a Carnival in July and a horticultural show in September, Bonsall always has something going on. The Limestone Way passes through the village and the High Peak and Tissington trails are close by for walking and cycling. The nearby county town of Matlock provides an array of shops, fine dining opportunities and at the heart of the town, Hall Leys Park.
