Matlock Bath 1 mile; Bakewell 8 miles.

The popular Peak District town of Matlock, together with its neighbour, Matlock Bath, has been attracting visitors to the area since the Spa was developed in the late 17th century. Set in the beautiful wooded gorge of the River Derwent, the Matlocks offer a range of shops, pubs and restaurants as well as a host of attractions including Riber Castle, Gulliver’s Kingdom and the Peak District Mining Museum. Magnificent views down the gorge can be enjoyed from the cable car which takes visitors up to the Heights of Abraham – a great place for all the family with its showcaves, nature trail, water gardens and Owl Maze. South of the town is the start of the High Peak Cycle Trail, whilst a short drive away is the National Tramway Museum at Crich. To the north are the market town of Bakewell and Chatsworth House and Park - not to be missed!

Previous visitors' comments about Cuckoo Stone Cottage:

We have never used Sykes Cottages before and we were delighted with Cuckoo Stone Cottage, where absolutely everything we needed was provided. The 3 ensuite bedrooms were perfect for our 3 couples. The cottage is a quiet haven with lovely views. We will certainly use Sykes again, and hopefully this cottage.
Mrs Crittall, Sleaford, March 2012

Cuckoo Stone Cottage is in a good position for walking and good for the dogs. Close to lots of places of interest.
Mr Garrett, Northampton, December 2011

The place is lovely and much bigger than it looks in the picture. The location brings the best of being in the country together with the convenience of being just a few minutes from Matlock's amenities. The owner and her family were very kind and helpful and we had a thoroughly enjoyable stay.
Mr Carvalho, Brighton, December 2011

We had such a lovely time in this cosy holiday cottage. It was a 'home from home' with everything we needed on hand. It was really well equipped. Our 18 month old son particularly enjoyed going out each morning to see the animals particularly 'Ned' the donkey - excellent!
