The conservation village of Winster is situated within the Peak District National Park and is an extremely pretty place with a charming 17th Century market house at its centre and other imposing 18th Century houses, nearly all three storeys, on its three main streets - Main Street, East Bank and West Bank. Less dignified, but no less endearing, are the little alleyways or ‘ginnels’ off Main Street which are well worth exploring. The village is famous for its Morris dancers, Wakes festivities (every June) and its annual Shrove Tuesday pancake race - a fascinating spectacle! Within the village there is a well stocked grocer’s shop with a Post Office and two pubs - both serving food and local traditional beers. Bakewell, Chatsworth and Matlock are all nearby and, for keen walkers, the village lies within 5 miles of the Tissington and High Peaks walking/cycling trails and The Limestone Way.

Winster 1.5 miles. This immaculate stone built detached cottage is situated next to the village green in the hamlet of Aldwark. It has been created from the skilful conversion of an old coach house and retains much original character including exposed stone walls, old beams and a lovely picture window in the old cartway. There is much to see and do in the area with Chatsworth and Haddon Hall close by and the towns of Bakewell, Matlock and Ashbourne within easy driving distance.
Two bedrooms: 1 x double, 1 x full size bunks (can also be twin), folding bed on request. Bathroom with bath (shower over), WC & basin. Beamed sitting room with open fire, sofa bed & picture window. Spacious farmhouse style dining/kitchen.
Full oil central heating, open fire (one bag of coal and logs inc. in rent). Electric cooker, microwave, fridge, freezer, washing machine, tumble dryer, colour TV, video, DVD, music centre etc. Oil inc. in rent. Electricity on £1 meter. Bed linen & towels inc. in rent. The cottage was set in a nice location with plenty to see and do. As a group of 19 year olds we weren't looking for walks but still found plenty of activities to enjoy. We received a very warm welcome and always felt there was someone there if we needed any help.
