Overseal is a bustling little village in the heart of the National Forest, located in south Derbyshire, within easy reach of the picturesque Derbyshire Dales. With a number of pubs and shops, Overseal is very close to many chocolate box villages and interesting towns. Nearby Burton upon Trent is a town straddling the River Trent, made famous by its breweries, and with The National Brewery Centre interactive museum close by, you can sample some of the many award-winning ales and learn a thing or two about the brewing process. The village is full of history from the rein of Henry III, and there stands a lovely church with an oak tree that is said to have hidden Charles II in his escape from the Roundheads! There are many historic sites and places of interest such as Tutbury Castle, the Old Marina and Claymills Pumping Station. Overseal is a good touring base, with Twycross Zoo, Drayton Manor, Alton Towers, Belper, Matlock and Ashbourne within an easy reach, as well as Calke Abbey and the cathedral city of Lichfield 20 miles away.
