  • "We loved the cottage."

We really liked that it was an ancient building renovated to such a high standard. It was very warm and comfortable and all the facilities worked well. Having the zip-link beds is a very good idea and for our party, a major point in selecting the property. We appreciated the hot tub which was warm enough to use even though the weather was cold and we had wonderful views over the countryside. Some recommendations from our group: a bannister was seen as a useful addition especially for older guests, a big teapot, more plastic glasses for use in the hot tub and a better fitting filter. One person was surprised at the request to strip our own beds. The only major difficulty was communication with Sykes as I struggled to find an email or phone number. All-in all we had a lovely weekend and I'd like to come back in the summer. Thank you very much.

Nice large kitchen and good stove for cooking on, with enough pots and pans for making meals. The hot tub was very welcome and has an excellent view! We even used the log burner! The weather was somewhat changeable during the week A couple of things that I noticed, a handrail on the stairs would be useful. My sight is restricted and although it doesn’t restrict me much, a handrail on stairs is a plus for me. Also, oven gloves and a few more large plates? Overall our stay was very restful and pleasant, and I would have no hesitation about recommending a stay at The Cottage

  • "We loved our stay at Beeston hall."

The cottages is wonderfully renovated but the original structure was preserved. We loved the original beams that were still in place. Upon arrival we got a fancy welcome package which made us feel right at home. All the bedrooms are really spacious and the beds very comfortable. There are two bathrooms. One is very big and modern. The others one is smaller but onsuite with one of the bedrooms. The kitchen is really big and a joy to cook in. The highlights of the cottage for me were the fireplace and the hot tub. After a nice day of hiking in the mountains we could come home, shower, relax in the hottub with a great view over the mountains and afterward cuddle up in front of the fire place. What more do you want on a holliday? The cottage is next to a working farm and the farmer was really nice. You are allowed to come up and say high to the annimals. Overall we had a wonderfull stay and would highly recoomand this place

We visited Hebden Bridge, Heptonstall and had some good meals at nearby recommended pubs, Beehive Inn, the Fleece and Alma Inn. The cottage was perfect for our dog too, stone floors, nice field at the back which we were able to use for a quick walk. The garden has a low wall which our dog jumped straight over but luckily no sheep in field so wasn’t a problem. Very well equipped kitchen, nice log burner with logs and comfy beds with good quality sheets. We also enjoyed having a look around the farm.

Not only were we meeting up to celebrate our Mother/Grandma/&Great Grandmas' Birthday, but we were getting together to be with our little 'new additions' to family, whom i had only seen once, due to Lockdown. An exciting time had by all of us! The property was FABULOUS! Everything we could ever need for a relaxing holiday, which we all had throughout our stay! The house was a delight, exceptional care to detail, fresh bedding & towels, spotlessly clean throughout and a welcome pack of bread&butter, tea&coffee&milk, as well as a Lovely suprise bottle of Prosecco! We enjoyed every minute of our stay, the beautiful countryside, farm animals surrounding the fields, and relaxing evenings watching the sun go down and moon rise in the sky... all from the warm, relaxing bubbles in the Hot tub! Our little 'Adventurers', aged 7 & almost 2 enjoyed the run around the lovely lawned garden and visits to watch cows, sheep, chickens and horses really tired them on an evening, so were ready to relax in Hot Tub before bed and a good sleep, refreshed next day! Thankyou for making our family break special, we will definately be staying here again soon!

Hot tub is fantastic and the views are beautiful. Plenty of walks nearby and great pubs in and around Ripponden (try the Beehive!) There were a lot of bugs around and wasps, I know it can't be helped but a trap might've been nice as we had to go inside a lot due to being bitten so much! I couldn't find any blankets. Although it was a warm weekend, some blankets to sit outside at night would be great. We did run out of toilet paper, they provided one roll in each bathroom but as one bathroom is ensuite it wasn't used as much. The kitchen is very well equipped with everything you need - bring an extra tea towel though! Having a dishwasher was fantastic too. Overall lovely and will be back!

We enjoyed lots of shopping and lots of places to choose from! We expecially enjoyed boundary Mills, it has a great one in Colne! We would love to book again when the weather is nicer and explore the local area more. We had a lovely lunch at The Fleece which we also couldn't fault. Few suggestions for the cottage would be a handrail up the stairs, handrail or something for easy access to hottub and also would benefit from a toilet downstairs but otherwise perfect cottage, we will be back! • "We had a lovely weekend at the cottage, such a wonderful space with gorgeous views."

So much to do in the area and explore, but equally could have just sat in front of the fire all day enjoying the landscapes. We were met by a lovely fresh loaf, butter and bottle on arrival too which was a nice touch. Beds very comfortable. The only two things to mention for future consideration are that the hot tub was not hot enough to use on the first night. We arrived at 3pm and by 5/6pm it was still not to temperature. Host was very apologetic and not much that could be done. Maybe just re-fill earlier if possible I guess. The second thing was that the wall in the garden is very low. Low enough for dogs to jump and clear into the field with sheep. One dog was fine with this, but the other dog needed to be on a long line to avoid getting near the livestock. You may want to consider taking a long line if booking. None of the two points above made a difference to the break, just points to consider. We had a great time and would certainly consider returning. Thanks for a lovely stay.

  • "Beautiful property on a working farm!"

The wood burner was the high of a stay as it was so cozy! The house was lovely and clean when we arrived and the owners were very accommodating. On arrival, we had been left some lovely fresh bread, butter and a bottle of Prosecco, which was a lovely surprise! We took our two dogs with us, the only issue is the garden is not suitable for dogs (in my opinion). There is a very low wall at the back (about 2 feet high) that any dog could jump and there were sheep in the field behind, so we kept our dogs on leads in the garden at all times, which wasn’t ideal. This issue could be easily and cheaply rectified with a trellis or something similar. Those things aside, I would 100% recommend this hidden gem in the Pennines. I would definitely return with the doggies, once the garden was more suited for put four legged friends.

The owners were spot on in sorting out the issue with the outdoor lights not working as we have elderly dogs and one fell down the step. Great central location for trips to Hebden Bridge and Howarth our new favourite places. A few snag list things maybe could be done like list a freezer in the info on Sykes as we had to ring to check. Also the bath plug really needs a chain on it as it was a struggle to get the plug out at times. And an iron would be nice and a extra tea towel as having to use the same one all week not very hygienic. Apart from those tweaks we loved it and hope to return at some point.

My only down side was contact with yourselves,I understand Covid made your jobs hard but sometimes the ignorance of your replies were quite stressful, we had to rearrange twice which was understandable but trying to speak to an staff member from Sykes or an email reply was almost impossible. Also to get a message the day before travel to say it was our responsibility to find out if we could still visit the cottage as it was in a local lockdown area. We ended up having to contact the owners direct as the government website wasn’t clear,Calderdale council couldn’t advise and your phones weren’t answered so after ringing many people we found out who owned the cottage and asked them directly if they were happy to host us..still happy to book again with yourselves as hoping it was all covid related that your customer service wasn’t it’s bet

  • "The cottage was lovely and the surroundings were perfect for short walks and bike rides, straight out of the door."

The kitchen was very well-equipped and the photos do not lie - the place is beautifully decorated, fitted out with good quality furniture, plenty of kitchen storage, everything worked as it should, and there was plenty of space for our family of five to relax. The ensuite shower room was very handy every day! Rachel was easy to contact for a daft thing (missing tea towels and an oven glove) which she remedied within minutes of us asking, and she was around the farm to helpfully answer some questions about the local area. Even though it was literally next door to the farmhouse we were almost unaware of being near it, with the parking space, the "front" door and rear garden being set away from it, so we felt it was private and we had the place to ourselves. The hot tub was a winner with the children and it was lovely to be able to sit in it and look across the valley, seeing nothing but hills, sheep, cows and couple of farmhouses on the other side of the reservoir. There is a slight inescapable niggle that you have to go out the door, across the stone pavers and around the corner to the rear of the property in your swimwear to get in it, but much of a problem. It's a VERY old building, nicely restored and very comfortable - I won't complain that they haven't knocked through the chimney wall to put a patio door in! . There is a storage building for bikes - it is very simple to get out and do a couple of miles circuit around the reservoir, across the dam, or go a bit further for some hill climbs, which made a 6-miler seem much further! Under-floor heating was nice (though it was warm so could not report it's efficiency if it was winter) Very happy with the place, and would recommend it.
