Location: Middleton Near Wirksworth

Wirksworth 3 miles; Matlock 6 miles.

The former quarry and lead mining village of Middleton quietly nestles on a prominent hillside above the nearby towns of Wirksworth and Cromford, 6 miles from Matlock. The village is centred on a long main street which consists of a village shop and a good local pub, before eventually winding its way down into nearby Wirksworth. The surrounding countryside is a walker's and cyclist's paradise, with the disused High Peak Railway line close by, recently converted into The High Peak Cycle Trail and providing a fun day out for all. Nearby Matlock provides a good range of shops and pubs, whilst the many National Trust properties and museums throughout the area are not to be missed. A great location at any time of year!

Mr Davison, Guildford, February 2013

It was a lovely quaint cottage. We liked the wood burning stove and the village was pleasant with plenty of places to visit and walks to go on nearby.
Mrs Woodley, Didcot, December 2012

The cottage was lovely, very comfortable and inviting. The fire was very cosy and warmed the cottage very well. The cottage was well furnished, the bedroom and the shower room where very comfortable and clean. We hope to return to this lovely cottage in the future and would recommend it to our friends.
