  • "This is probably one of the best cottages I've ever stayed in."

The accommodation was very clean, so comfortable and Sue was extremely helpful. We stayed at Christmas and the place was beautifully decorated with a tree and a gorgeous hamper on arrival. Large comfy beds, plenty of hot water and excellent heating system all made for a very relaxing and comfortable stay. The cottage is very well placed for local attractions being equi distant between Ashbourne and Buxton. Sykes description of the property is not up to date as it states shower over the bath and no doors on the bedrooms. The owner told me changes were made some time ago so now there is a beautiful walk in shower and doors between the bedrooms. This needs to be changed on the website. Thank you so much to Sue and family for making our Christmas special!

    4. The cottage was perfectly located and easy to find, spotlessly clean and very well equipped. Need to update the bathroom picture/description - now a lovely shower room. Only negative was having to leave by 9am! My daughter is animal mad and her favourite bird is a peacock, so she absolutely loves it here. We'll definitely be back again!

  • "This is a wonderful cottage to stay in if you are deaf or need less sleep than a peacock, i."

    E. if you only want to sleep between 11pm and 4am. I didn’t mind being on a busy road, or the tractor at 6.30am or 10.30pm, or the cockerel in the morning, or the creaky stairs which you can hear if someone gets up to go to the toilet in the night as it’s downstairs and there are no bedroom doors, but the very loud peacock at 4-5am every morning ruined what could have been a lovely holiday. The accommodation itself was very pleasant and the location is very handy but even with ear plugs the peacock still woke me up every morning and I was very glad to leave and be able to have a lie in till 7am when I got home. I did message Sykes to see if we could move after 2 nights but they didn’t reply until 5 days later - the day we left.

THE LOCATION WAS IDEAL FOR VISITING THE DERBYSHIRE DALES. THE KITCHEN ALTHOUGH SMALL WAS WELL EQUIPED WITH ELECTRICAL GADGETS,CUTTELRY PLATES AND GLASSWARE. THE SHOWER ROOM WAS ROOMEY CLEAN,BUT THE SHOWER TEMPERATURE ADJUSTMENT DID NOT PROVIDE HOT ENOUGH WATER TO SHOWER WITH IN MY OPINION.

The kitchen was very well stocked with everything we needed for our stay. The shower room is modern. The accommodation had lots of space and was comfortable. The outside space is great for kids. It is well situated within a short drive to many local sites within the peaks. Easy to find and parking is right outside the front door.

! We booked both number 3 and number 4 for a family Christmas break. Both properties were absolutely spotless. Both were lovely and warm and had constant hot water. Property in excellent condition overall, the walls are very thick with no sound from the adjoining property. All the beds are huge and so comfortable. The shower in number 4 is now a walk in shower recently installed to replace the bath and overhead shower, a lovely addition. Fantastically equipped kitchen with everything you could possibly need. Very comfortable suite with reclining chair. Parking is excellent directly outside the property. A special thank you to Sue and Phil who were excellent hosts , there if needed, discreetly allowing you space to enjoy the break. Would highly recommend. NOTE do not follow directions from Sykes it will send you to an alternative property with the same name, use the postcode and Google maps.

Plenty of trail walks and nature walks right off the door step. A short drive to many beautiful market towns nearby, which all have some great history. The cottage was clean and well maintained throughout, the owner was there to welcome us in, with milk in the fridge and biscuits on the side. A welcomed bonus. They was about if you needed anything, but left you alone to enjoy your holiday. Unlike some on site owners we have experienced in the past. Our kids loved being greeted by the free range livestock. Especially the beautiful peacock. Cottage is in a great location, we will be returning again in the future, as there is so much to do, which we couldn't fit into our week.

This cottage is well up to your usual standards, and the location is wonderful. This is not a complaint: we suggest that, in the listing, you remind guests to bring a torch. If you need to get up in the night the stairs are dark and steep and, without a torch, you'll have to turn the lights on and wake everybody up! The kitchen is small, but very good: better than many self-catering cottages.

  • "Hello, it was a nice comfortable stay."

The cottage’s location is amazing, close to most landmarks. It was very clean and comfortable, equipped with all necessary equipments. Few points for future improvements: TV was not working, we tried our best. There are no doors between bedrooms- atleast a curtain would be better to give some privacy. There is also no lock in the toilet, which is very important for privacy. Finally, the most important is checkout time is 9am which is too early for a holiday and makes you rushed and also checkin at 4pm is too late. Checkout time of 10:30 and checkin of 2-3pm would be ideal. Hope this is taken in consideration. Thanks

Lovely large window facing West so we sat there in the evening watching the sun go down. Chickens and the peacock were fun and quiet. Loads of parking. Beds were very comfortable, but the lack of doors on the bedroom would have been a problem if another couple had come with us, didn't realise that you can see straight from one bedroom into the other as they are directly opposite. Maybe a curtain would an idea? Loved the mezzanine between the bedrooms looking down over the dining area. Kitchen was very small, but well equipped.
