The popular Peak District town of Matlock, together with its neighbour, Matlock Bath, has been attracting visitors to the area since the Spa was developed in the late 17th century. Set in the beautiful wooded gorge of the River Derwent, the Matlocks offer a range of shops, pubs and restaurants as well as a host of attractions including Riber Castle, Gulliver’s Kingdom and the Peak District Mining Museum. South of the town is the start of the High Peak Cycle Trail, whilst a short drive away is the National Tramway Museum at Crich. Previous visitors' comments about Rotherwood Cottage:
The cottage was lovely and we really enjoyed our stay there. Much nicer than the pictures on line, which made it look a little old fashioned when in reality the furnishings were very modern. The location was great as it was in beautiful countryside but not isolated - with a train station and massive Sainsburys nearby as well as a lovely town - Matlock - within walking distance/short drive. Owners were really nice and helpful and live near enough to sort out problems quickly should you need them to.
