The lovely village of Stoney Middleton is set in between some spectacular Derbyshire scenery, with Middleton Dale just beyond and the fantastic Froggat Edge very close by. The village is surrounded by some of the prettiest countryside in the Peak District, including The Dale which provides some wonderful rock climbing, cycling and walks following the medieval packhorse track; known locally as Jacobs Ladder this can be walked from the centre of the village passing through Stoney woods and provides wonderful views of Curbar and Froggat Edge in the distance. Stoney Middleton has an interesting past including the story of heartbroken young Hannah Baddaley who is said to have jumped from Lover’s Leap, at the top of Middleton Dale, after being spurned by her love. A visit to Eyam, just south of Stoney Middleton, is a must to see how parts of the village have been kept as they looked several centuries ago, such as the plague cottages, the church and Eyam Hall, a beautiful 17th century manor house with delightful gardens, craft shops and tea rooms. Above the village lies Eyam Moor, a fine area for walking, with fantastic views across the Derwent Valley, with its many Bronze Age remains and monuments. Visit Bakewell, a picturesque market town which holds a livestock market every Monday and the home of the world famous Bakewell Pudding. Explore the mysterious caverns of Castleton, the elegant spa town of Buxton or enjoy the many stately homes on offer at Chatsworth House, Haddon Hall and Hardwick Hall, to mention a few. With Alton Towers, Britain's premier theme park, only a short drive away, this is an ideal base for all the family.

Stylish throughout and providing spacious accommodation, this Derbyshire cottage is just perfect for groups of friends and families to spend time together in the pretty Peak District setting. Outside, this Stoney Middleton cottage has a front patio area with village views and a raised patio to the rear of the property to enjoy a pre-dinner drink and take in the lovely views of Stanage Edge, Froggatt Edge and the countryside beyond. The lovely village of Stoney Middleton provides a good array of amenities, not to mention some interesting walks along Middleton Dale and the imposing Lover’s Leap. Just north of Stoney Middleton is the historic plague village of Eyam, a little further again are the market towns of Buxton, Ashbourne and Bakewell, with Haddon Hall, Chatsworth House and Alton Towers all easy to get to. A wonderful base to explore all the Peak District has to offer.

Stoneley was awesome, far more than we ever imagined. The owner left a super welcome pack which meant we didn't have to shop until the next day. Every part of the property was beautifully kept and very clean.

It is a lovely cottage and we would have no hesitation in recommending it. Well located, lots of places to visit. Reasonable food served at the local pub which is only two minutes away on foot.
